hey all
i have a huge problem with my TH. it is surging when acellerting but when it gets to 3000revs it stops and goes well. it is also causing backfiring.
i think the airflow meter is **** because it has happened since i got water in my cold air intake?
has anyone had a problem like this?

Nah. I've had coolant pissing thru my MAF from a burst TB gasket that a member supplied me with their exchange TB. No prob at all appart from white smoke :shifty:
With the available info it sounds like either:
A) your Throttle Position Sensor is out of calibration. In 800 words I can tell you how to do it by yourself or you could ask a service dept to do it in 15mins.
B) leak around your intake. Tighten all the hose clamps even if they look good. Check for cracks in the hoses and that none of the vacuum lines on the TB have broken or come off. There is also a line on the back of the plenum to check.
Run the motor at idle with the hood up and listen for sucking noises and holes.
Air bypassing the MAF will cause hassles at low rpm but the motor's running will smooth out at higher rpm due to the large air demand.
C) Have you had work done on your TB?

The oxy sensor will affect fuel economy adversely too. What's your fuel usage doing?

I had the same problem, no human could tell me what was wrong, except the onboard computer which gave me a code error of 'Throttle Position Sensor' :bowrofl:
Well it turned out my Throttle Position Sensor connector was buggered.

Check out www.madmagna.com tech pages, clean TB, this will tell you how to set your TPS, is a quick operation

also check your spark plugs, my car use to "stutter" when accelerating and i though it was the AFS, or fuel pump, filter, injectors, etc. ...but yeah it was just some dirty old sprak plugs.
later
PS, on a similar note i just installed RPW's new CAI, and also got my filter drenched, so hopefully thats not your problem (dam perth roads and their crap drainage lol)
