Hey, I posted in the Tech Torque section but someone said I should post here too.

^^^original thread

My car is a 1990 Elante. Its all stock. I want a bit more power behind the car, but I am not really sure on how to reach what I want, something like 150KW would be nice but whatever is easy to get too. I have been thinking possibly a turbo. I've looked at and heard a bit about the Mitsubishi TD05H-EVOIII 16G-7CM² turbo.... Can this be fitted to my car? What type of power would I have then? And what else would I need to do to the car? What would the total estimated costs be to do all this?

Are there any better ways of adding power to the car?

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :-)

EVO3 turbo is a good one, but for 150kw at the wheels id go something abit smaller like a TD05 14B, will push u over 150kw easily, im running this, and the only reason i wanna go to a evo3 is so that i can hold boost from 6000-7500rpm point. but on a stock astron the hardest its gonna rev stock is 5500rpm or watever.

Alright, cool. Thanks for the help. What else would I need, what type of intercoolers, manifold etc.. etc.. would I need?

Estimate a total cost for me :D

Thanks!

do a search this has been covered a million times...

estimate cost? depending on what your going for expect it to be over $1000-2000 depending on the condition of your motor u should really rebuild it to suit a turbo setup, you will also have problems finding some where that will make a manifold for you, then you have to get an aftermarket ecu so $800 min, then you have the cost of a whole new exhaust system, many things like that

imo its just not worth the cost,

Other than turbochargers what is the next best way to add power to the car?

Thanks for your help!! I was expecting it to cost around 4 grand... so no suprises there. And you said do a search, where do you mean? On this site or....?

ahhaha @ that. If a vr4 is a bogan car wats a FORD escort...... ZHAHAHAHAHAHA

Back on topic, Intercooler wise its ur call. from my exprience fitting any decent size cooler is gonna require the front bar to be chopped up pretty hard. Budget wise, get a 2nd hand supra one. Or u could look around a get a Hybrid copy style one. Im guessing ur gonna need injectors of some kind. Not sure what CC the stock ones are but depending on how much boost u wanna run u could get some 510cc out of a evo 3

Here is another question

If i got extractors, a 2 1/2 inch exhaust, cam, pod filters, chip tune and twin plate clutch what sort of additional power would it add? And what would it cost? LOL yes its all about the cost with me...

Twin plate is abit extreme.... Just get a decent Ceramic cushioned clutch plate, with a heavy duty pressure plate. cost around 400-600 i think

True that. The idea of getting the twim plate would be set up for mods in the future... ones that increase the cars power a lot... Otherwise it'd rip the **** out of the clutch.

But any idea on the power increase it would give, with those parts mentioned above? I mean on the stock engine.

i dont think u can even buy twin plates for our car. well without custom work involved. I got a XTREME Heavy duty pressure plate and Ceramic racing plate, and its holding up with my 15psi no problems, hasnt slipped one bit. Or if u were dead set on getting a hardcore clutch u could use a Vr4 flywheel and then get a twin plate clutch to suit vr4 made and it would work in theory

Hmm well I guess i'll look into that then! See what I can find out...

Thanks for your help again!!

I still need an estimated power gain on what i mentioned above if anyone knows :D And cost lol

mmm if i remember correct a elante TP is efi yes?

in that case your looking at another $600ish plus tuning for a custom ecu if you do to much to the car

and thats not just for turbo as mentioned above, yet even if u keep it NA and change to much
