Howdy gentlemen,
Has anyone thought of getting a droptank made to fit the current body Magnas? or even a fake one to get the looks? i was thinking about it the other day, and even making a second take to hold some really wild petrol (to use only while racing 8) ) and having a switch to turn from the standard tank to the proformance tank? i spose its possible so do anyone know who make take care of this sorta job?
NOS:
Howabout getting a boot load of NOS? lol.. that would be wild.. i was just wondering, what sorta work is needed to get, say the 3L v6 hooked up with NOS? Enginerebuilds? or is it a fairly straight forward application (not that id do it myself :? )
Cheers,
Benji.

A drop tank you would have to get custom made and would cost you a fair bit for what real purpose? The fuel idea would work but would be kinda costly to do as you would most probobly need a sperate fuel pump etc
A NOS kit would be good if you run a low shot like 25-40hp tops. Installation isn't to bad but i wouldn't reccomend installing it youself. We'll be stocking nos kits soon :D

SO, you think youd be able to run say, a max 40hp shot without any serious engine upgrades (ie, rebuilding etc etc.)
What sorts of cost are involved in getting a kit fitted, say 40hp? Is it legal to have a NOS fitted? i read somewhere you are allowd to carry it, but not use it, or wired up? wot da.....

How about taking the spare wheel bay, cut it flat, then mount a drop tank.. yer, may sound like a lot of coc to you city slickers, but for us territorians (me anyway) having the ability to travel long distances (1500km, Alice to Darwin) which i do quite regulary, having an extra 70km would mean i could save an easy hour on refuel stops.. less stops, travel further, travel faster! = Saving Time...

NOS is legal to have however your not allowed to have it hooked up on the road. Also you insurance company will cruisify you if they found out you have NOS hooked up. Have to be careful, its ok if you don't have it hooked up, if you have an accident just take the bottle out of the car.
But you need to be very careful when it comes to insurance, don't give them a reason to decline your cover.

itll look ok...maybe as the magna rear is sorta raised from the rest of d body...

Maybe i might turn my magna into a 'dog box touring car'
It would be bout time we saw one of them on a track, dont you reckon 8)
"MAGNA RACING TEAM" so the Mitsubish version of the Holden Racing Team (HRT) would end up like, MRT

You could run a nitrous system in the magna no problems at all, standard engine will take one hundred [100] horsepower with two [2] degree's of [ignition] timing taken out of it on the hit. Anything more than that will take pistons and a few other nick nats that you've already been told about in the engine build-up. It's my opinion that you'll also need to make a rear muffler change before using it.

my god gold magna is hooked on NOS.
Well if hard head says you can run 100hp shots he knows what he's talking about. I wouldn't put my motor though that much punishment but if your game go right ahead, would love to see the result.

hate to let u in on a secret - how hard is it for u to spin your wheels GBM??
now imagine throwing another 100hp instant shot into that!! traction?? hmm, not likely - that is why i dont like the idea of the TT kit - yeah it will be fast - if it gets off the line!!
i am just a little pessimistic about it sorry!!

AussieMagna
24-03-2003, 03:15 AM
I agree with manual, off the line stock power is hard enough to keep the wheels from spinning. Add further mods and it gets even harder, throw in TT's or NOS and goodluck.
These types of systems would only be good when your up and running, say from 40km/h onwards, even then you'll probobly still spin the wheels.
Thats why my motor is staying stock until i trade it in for a Manual AWD Magna and im going to going skitz on it, be warned power outputs won't be sane on my next ride
Manual
24-03-2003, 03:18 AM
hell yeah - TT and NOS on a AWD - bring it!!
but on the FWD - i have 225's on the front - stock engine bar a rear muffler change and it will break traction when giving it shit in 2nd - take 1st easy - bang it into second - and as she reaches about 4.5K it will just loose it everynow and again!!
in the rain the other day - 2nd gear turning right at the lights - slid across 3 empty lanes - well there was a bit of gas involved - but i dont like it!! (not really) prefer to drift it!!!
was gonna get a S13 and work it but they are just too common now!! same engine different shape - half the weight!! something different!!

Fellas Fellas Fellas!!!
Where is the commmon sense in using the NOS b4 you drop your clutch?
no no no!!! id use it once im already off the line.. say from third gear up?? doesnt that make more sense? Geezzz.... no way would i engage NOS before i was moving!!! Id sure be changing CV joints every 1,000 KM!!! NO NO NO.. NOS would be for a rolling start, once im off the line...

i reckon u will find that even off the line it will be a huge traction problem - but there is only one way to find out!! hahahaha!!
be good for the drags - yeah i wouldnt wanna use it before 3rd!!

Definately traction wouldn't be too wonderful. How about a progressive system...? or a Jakobs Mastermind nitrous controller [cheaper way of doing it], it's only money, come to think of it Blake will be stocking it soon, put an aussiemagna decal on the rear window and he'll probably be wanting to spot you a system... :D Remember the ignition timing thing.

I tell you what blake...
if you 'gave' me a 100hp NOS system... lets put it this way... The rear window is yours... ;)
Oh, id even enlist it in every single car show accross the nation, you pay for freight ;)

Also will be giving away shirts to people who want them.

It's got, what will be, the chassis rails sitting under it, and the rear end is finished. I'm at home [Tamworth] at the moment, while I'm here I want to pick up some heim ball joints for the rear suspension, my half Bro is organising them and most of the fiddley gear for me. It's happening just not overnight.

Fellas, i have a question with NOS.
How does it work as far when you inject it.. for example, if i had a large bottle of NOS, when i flick the switch to feed the NOS into the engie, what is a 'hit'.
what im trying to get at is, is a hit the full contents of a bottle?
or does it only last say, 5seconds? and if its a time things, like 5 seconds, does this mean that there is say, more than one 'hit' in each NOS bottle? like can i 'hit' nos more than once?
"BOOYA"
AussieMagna
24-03-2003, 10:38 PM
there are on average about 8-14 hits in a bottle, it depends how long you use your hit for and the size of your bottle.

From what i've heard places and dealerships the new TK magna (apparently thats what its gonna be... :? ) will be using the 3.5 fwd. Apparently Mitsu won't be releasing the 3.8 for another few years.
However this new TK magna will have the AWD option with both a manual and automatic trans... God please make this happen!

I dont think that they arent fitting a manual trans because of the room - it is because they dont know how to mate it to the AWD system - a manual trans is smaller then an auto trans - but because the trans is an adapted FWD trans to make if 4wd - they cant apparently fit the manual in the same way?? dunno why - every other car company can - i mean even the lancers are 4wd (evos and GSR's) so how come we cant get the new magna AWD in a manual - not gonna get one if it isnt manual!!

Lately i've changed my perspective on things.
My next car will most probobly be a Verada AWD Manual hopefully if not triptonic which i will lower to its ass and put on a nice set of rims and do a few small things to the engine and exhuast which will be my daily driver.
Im looking into a kit car to feed my performance hunger which i will drive on weekends and when the weather is nice. I really want to build my own car.

hear hear - me to blake - but i cant wait for hte new AWD magna - my TH is good enough for an everydayer as it is - wish i could put these wheels onto but the 4K on wheels and lowering srpgins would make a great start to the kit car!!
maybe after hte kit i will look into it - or even half way through - getting paid monthly has its up and downs - up - nice big numbers into the account - downers - making it last a month!!! if i can find out what engines i can use - the time it takes to import it from japan maybe i can afford to spend a bit on rims!! haha - but i wont be goin any smaller then 18x7 on 225's!! 225's will be fine as i am not doing power changes to the engine - so the traction will be ok!! i just want a little btter handling!! which is where the suspension comes into play - oh no - i think i may have the mod bug!! nooo, there goes all my money!! ahahaha - hmmm, I think i may be goin a little crazy!! too much coffee for me - 3 double espressos - hmm, that'll do it!!

The reason the AWD Magna hasnt been offered with a manual transmision (yet) is because there is no manual transmission in Japan to suit the AWD Diamante - its a luxury car and thus needs no manual (according to their logic). FWD, RWD, and AWD gearboxes are significantly different (as far as i know) and so instead of waiting till the manual box was developed, they decided to release the car as an auto, and introduce a manual with the facelift.
