Was at a mitsi dealership today to check on the prices of some Magna's.
99 TH with round 93-94,000 on the clock,Auto,stock-as-a-rock........$16,990 or near that mark WTF???Considering in a round 5,000 or so k's you'd have to get the timing belt done, which is'nt very cheap :(
TS v6 had about 70,000 on the clock which is hell good mileage!but still.....pretty stock........12-13,000 grand
When the guy there asked if i need a hand with anything,i just said"nope, just checkin ur prices" then he's like"oh,checking the prices"with a weird look on his face.Twas so close to tellin him that they're fully rippin off $%%#$!
Damn! All i can say is DEFENITELY shop around if ur gonna get a new car,Magna hopefully 8) ,cause there are some pretty dodgy places around.
Hmmm i bought mine at 42,000 on the clock and for only $12,000 on trade in     BARGAIN!

my TE v6 manual exec was from costless cars in ringwood, it had a sticker price of 16000, back in 00' it's a 96 manual exec,

i offered the guy $10,000 cesh! he was hesatent, but decided to take it after a couple of days, he even through in new tires, windscreen and service (for RWC) it only had 99,000 and a single person history that i verified! servced at collins in south melbourne!

good value for cash!

yep, resale is a killer on the beloved magna's... i bought TH '99 man exec 3.5 in 2001 (just over 2yrs old, 66000km) for $15500 private, coulda got more off but mum got the bank check written 15500, so that was a low as we could go... that was stupid!! and we had the guy running too, he didnt know what was going on... i reckon 14500 woulda been on the cards!

My best mate just bought a TS last month 95 ..deliverd 96 from the auctions..
It had a blown head gasket and a hole in the timing cover where water was leaking... (thus the blown head gasket)
it has 169k MANUAL! and has a "H" motor in it ... (H motors have differnt pistons and head... better and higher compression)
Anyway cost us $50 for parts fixed it in 4 hours...
He paid $2000....
Best bargin EVER!!!!!

Oh and that turbo motor I was selling for the TR/TS .......
Hes putting it back into this car now..
Ill get some pics next time om over there.

I think im the worst off, because I had no idea what the go was with Magnas, didnt do my research just rushed into it......Never again.

But here goes:

99 TH Advance, 119000 kms on the clock. Dealer stamped service. One owner but it was an ex fleet car from Australian Fleet Cars. Bought it for $16500 5 months ago. Ripped off hard!!!!! Everytime I think about it i wanna cry...It didnt have the timing belt NOR the rear 3 spark plugs changed. Had to do that myself.

I paid $16k for my 98 Sports with 86 000km on the clock....... I bought it from a dealer, and made sure I got a three year warranty on it...... Did the rest of you that bought from a dealer get warranty??? I found that the price I paid was abount average for a magna sports in by area at the time.....

bloody even TE's are coming down in price heaps also every year.
i bought my TE manual V6 (with 135ks) for $9400 at the end of 2002 from private sale. I suppose it did come with cruise, abs, double DIN kenwood cd/md player, and colour coded skirts 8)

but u can buy manual TE's without about the same kms for about $8000 or so now

goddam thats good value for money!!

Saw a TE 96 V6 Auto Wagon for $7990 on the Pacific Highway or whatever the street is just on the side of it, same side as Motsons Turbo & Suspension. They're bloody cheap 2nd hand.. We bought both of our Mitsu's brand new.. thats because they were purchased under the old man's business so for Fleet buyers and all the rest of it.. its gotta be new!

after 3 months of looking for my Manual Magna, i finally gave in to a 96 TE 3.0L with 108,000kms on the clock. payed $11,500 for it. pretty disapointed, considering they are prolyl worth about 9,000-10,000 bucks, bu i was desperate and grabbed it. havent looked back. love the colour too :)

If you want the best proice on Magnas go to a Pickles (or similar) Fleet and goverment Auction....end of story. ;)

Most have between 30000 - 50000kms

2002's $14000 - $15000
2001's $11000 - $12000
1997/8/9's $7000 - $8000

My 2001 3.5 Silver Advance was $12000

The place is full of dealers, all they do is slap there mark up on them and flog them off to the public for $3000+ more

Magnas have shocking resale value, which makes them fantastic value for 2nd hand car buyers....if i bought one new (Which I never would) I would cry at the amount of money I would lose on it

Lol i just saw someone advise their Magna and all I have to say is there are so many people that have absolutely NO IDEA how to price their cars. This person was advertising a 96 TE 3.0L Executive. It had done 175,000kms. No mods on it at all. They were asking for $14,500 !! AHAHAH. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw it. Saw another person who advertised a TS 2.6L Executive wagon for $7,000 with 190,000kms. You can get the TS for half of that. I'm really interested in upgrading my car to a TE 3.0L Executive. One with anywhere from 120,000kms to 150,000 kms. The average price for a TE Sedan Executive 4dr Man 5sp 3.0i according to Redbook is $6,600 - $8,700 between 120,000kms and 150,000 kms. I haven't really seen anyone advertise a TE in the 6's though yet. Will have to wait until the auctions. There is one tomorrow but nothing of interest to me. My bro picked up a 94 Holden Apollo(same as Camry) which had only done 100,000 kms on it and in immaculate condition. Only paid $5700 for it and the insurance company said that it was worth so much the minimum they could insure it for was $9500. I'm hoping for another deal of the sort to come by for me. Will have to get my old man doing what he does best. Checking out and comparing prices of cars. Redbook prices the JM Sedan SLX 4dr Man 5sp 2.2i Apollo at $5,900 for 160,000. I'm happy for him that he paid $5700 for one with 100,000kms. The car is immaculate and great to drive. I'm praying someone of the sort involving a TE will come for me.

I think It's actually quiet funny how dealers go by the "Red Book (http://www.redbook.com.au/)" when people trade-in their vehicles on a new/used car and then proceed to attempt to rip people off by pricing there used cars like that!

Magna prices tend to suffer big time when dealers offer big ass rebates on new cars they can't sell. That happened to me with my 2001 Lancer. The new 2L model came out and my value fell like a rock. If you doubt this logic just look at the AU Falcons

I paid quite A bit for my TJ concidering I got it new, I don't regret it though!

The number one rule is.. if you think you paid too much.. and you know it... DON'T read threads like this or you'll only torture yourself.

The prices you guys talk about don't exist up here.. It's nuts! Anyway even in the past 3 or so months since owning my car I've seen the prices on Magna drop.. grr. Something you just have to put up with.. I don't mind too much though cause in the end Ive still got a nice car that runs well and is very affordable.

A chick I work with just bought a 2001 (TH?) Executive.. ex government with 41,000 Km on it for $18,000 I think it was and from a Mitsubishi dealership.

We'll give you $5,500 for the 98 TF Sports and you pay the extra.. My old man.. looked at him and laughed in his face and walked out.. Ahh.. funny site!
