Alright. This is getting annoying.
A few weeks ago I pulled up outside the GF's house, picked her up. Started car and turned on lights ... no instrument lights. OK a bit dodgy. Checked the instrument lights fuse .. all OK. Flicked on the fog lamps, nothing their either, and then noticed that my parkers weren't working. My fog lamps are wired in to the parkers and this work was performed by an auto electrician around 15 months ago. So the fuse had blown for the parkers - replaced it and all was good.

Tonight the fuse has blown again. I drove home - all instrument lights working. Fog lamps working (it's misty here at the moment). 2 hours later need to go out again ... no instrument lights ... parker fuse gone again.

No the only thing that I can think of is that moisture inside my foglamps has caused a short circuit - since the lens is smashed (stone damage).

Any clues as to what else may have caused this fuse to blow??

Ummm ....

The Auto Elec got his certification at Maccas by the sounds of it...

The reason ur fuse is blowing is prob because the parker fuse is designed for the parkers. Adding an additional load of the foglights would be too much for the little fuse to handle.

Not to mention the little wires that are only rated for a tiny little parker bulb, that are now drawing 10 times that for ur foggies.

Get it done right, save yourself the hassle and more importantly the fire hazard.

There should be a spot in the fusebox where OEM foggies go. This will have all the wiring you need. Insert an appropriate size fuse for the foglights current draw and bobs ur uncle.

Alternatively, run new wires from the battery but ensure it is fused near the battery.

Peace

Tim

Sorry guys. My mistake for confusion. Foggies have thier own relay, and are fused at the battery, and power supply from the battery, however the switch (seperate switch) only becomes operable when the parkers (and of course while headlights) go active.

Ah ok then, possibly the break in the foglamp is causing it to use up much more current then... (or short as u suggested) I wouldnt up the fuse rating yet, perhaps look into replacing the broken lens if possible???

Peace
