Hey guys,
I'm a newbie here and my mum is after a new car and I am researching the 3.5L magna's. I was just wondering what the differences are between the TH and TJ 3.5L exeutive's? Also what are the Performance times for the 3.5L auto exeutive's? Apparently these cars are quite quick would they beat a VT/VX V6? Any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

both th and tj are a bit faster than the commodore varients.

the tj is a 155 kw engine i believe as its the second generation 3.5L

the th comes with 147 kw

TH Exec came out in 1999 with the option for the 3L(140Kws) or the 3.5L(147)

then the TJ came out with the same 3.5L 147Kw donk but was later tweaked to 155kw...

How much are u looking at spending for the car?

Yeah the TH advance sounds nice. We are looking at spending around the $15000 mark. Would this be considered the best choice?

Get an advance.. Lots of fun lil gadgets to f*ck wit.. If you're in for some fun, get a Manual TJ Executive, and do a Redav - K&N Panel and Lukey Exhaust and see if you can teach Redav a lesson on the dyno's.

15000 is well within the range of the odd TJ series lying around the dealer yards.. I reckon you'll find more choices than you can remember... So is auto the preferred choice? then get the advance... *No.1 in a comparison against the Forte and Berlina in terms of performance and economy...

And adding Booya's Gold colour adds another 50 yah!!!!! :D J/K again.. I suddenly feel so alive....

Actually my fault.. I can't remember the comparison was with a TH or TJ, but considering that they are similar cars or in fact.. totally the same cars it should be much of a difference..

Performance wise I remembered the Falcon edge out the magna by 0.2 or 0.5 of a second with the magna running in just under 9 seconds and the commodore just above 9 seconds...All autos

So I have done some research and found that the TJ series 2 sounds the bes. As it has some extra goodies and also it has the 155kw motor. How much do you guys reckon a series 2 auto exeutive would be?

Ever used Redbook before? www.redbook.com.au is a great place to check what kind of price you can expect.

According to them, a MY02 Series 2 Magna Exec semi-auto looks like this:

average kms 18,000 - 22,000
trade in price guide $17,800 - $20,700
national average price - private sale $20,100 - $23,400
price when new (RRP) $32,990

The TJ exec would be a bit out of your price range i think. A TH advance is your best option if you aren't going a manual. Not even mitsubishi is sure about the TH's running 147kw and the 150kw in the series 1 tj's. The TJ's with the updated 155kw motor (2002 model onwards) is a lot quicker than its predecessing motor. Mainly because the 155kw motor is the sports/vrx engine with the crappy muffler. Prior 3.5L models run a motor with different cams.
