My mechanic advised me to flush and replace the coolant as he spotted some rust. It costs $55 to have it done by him and I think its quite expensive. How do I go about doing it myself and is it worth it?

additives only loosen the rust and oil and whatever your trying to flush out . for $55 to flush that is cheep if rad is full of crap it will need to be pulled out and cleaned properily anyway all a flush is .is water passed through rad and block and hoses then add some compresed air to blow out water and fragments of rust if done wrong you can blow tanks off rad or dammage thermostat so if the mechanic was to blow tank off he would have to get it fixed. as for thermostat i would replace it at the same time and the flush was done

this is one of the things im not sure on how to do, whenever i need mine flushed i have it down by the mechanic. $55 seems reasonable, mine cost $50 so close enough
