Hey all
In an effort to fix my clear taillights and lack of red reflector, i tried cutting out some road sign reflective tape and sticking it over the reflector. Just wondering what u guys think cause im not sure if i like it or not. Also is there a candy kinda paint around that i could use and it still show the reflector yet make it red instead of white?
Im just trying some ideas as i think the clear lights look good on my car, but dont want cops hassling me or my insurance void if i get hit from behind

Cheers

Nah man it will look lame on the outside. Two red squares on either side.

Maybe put em on the inside of the gap instead so that you can see em only when light hits em at night.

wel i did this... syuck a reflector behind the frosted lens.... does work... BUT you can see the red reflector during the day and during the night, when braking, the red circle reflector will only shine...

soo took the frosted light off and stuck back my stock ones... looks much better!!! :D

I totally understand why you would try it, but IMO it is just going to look too odd on the back in contrast with the rest. Thing is that even with the reflective tape, i still don't believe that it would stand up to ADR compliance... especially with insurance. I am pretty sure it would need a certificate, but don't quote me.

Mine are now just gathering dust in my bedroom, mainly because of the pink brake dilemma... it certainly doesn't get the same response with the tinted lights as it did with the frosties any more.

I was wondering if there was any possible way to get something inside where you plug the bulbs in that was red that could sit behind the reflective section... I haven't had a good enough look at it. I have a feeling it will still no doubt reflect white more than likely through refraction on that opaque material.

A dilemma to be sure... good luck with it!

is there anyway you can take the casing off and just swap the white reflector with a red one?
I solved the pink look with LED's, just seems bit of a waste to spend about $150 on them and not use them

u could try and melt the glue by baking it and pulling off. but possible u could break it trying to rip it off or melt the plastic.

hyper's right, red reflector get u off cops but still wouldnt be adr approved even with led's in. in saying that insurance mighten even look at them it all depends , and is a risk u take.

but knowing for a fact if i hit someone in the arse, and they had clears u could qeustion the real cause.

there is a glass paint from spotlight u could use to paint the reflector, but you have to clear coat it so it stay's on.
cogs have a search u probably know the person i'm talking about, who had them painted on a black magna, i thought it didnt look to bad. try find a pic.
