Hey guys, went to Super Cheap Auto, Strathfield, JB Hi-Fi and WOW today, and have come across a system I'm interested in.

Not sure on the model numbers, but more or less, it consists of a set of oval shaped 6 x9's ($160), a set of 16cm fronts ($90), and a yet to be decided head unit.

It's all Pioneer gear, and at the moment I think Strathfield is doing me the best deal. I don't want to spend to much on the head unit (none of that ~1k stuff), but definitely want it to be a pioneer unit with WMA/MP3 playback, and some sort of spectrum analyser or graphics display.

Any help on what to choose? Also, are the 16cm fronts going to fit? And will the 6x9's fit, as they look larger than regular pioneer 6x9's due to their oval shape.

If it helps, the speakers all have a blue cone to them, with black mesh.

Finally, Strathfield says prob ~$200 for installation, but chances are they will do a deal if I buy the full set from them.. problem is, their head units seem very pricey, especially the Pioneer ones.

Anyway, any help, suggestions or ideas would be great. Thanks.

Sure buy the Gear from Strathfield Just take it somewhere else to get it installed..
Without knowing exact models you are going for it is a bit hard to tell if they fit or not.
Stick with Pioneer they make good gear...

16 cm should fit no worries so will 17 cm in the front doors..
6x9's should fit down the back shelf..

If you are going to get it installed by strathfield, tell them you want the pioneers to fit under stock covers to avoid theft...

I personally wouldn't even buy the gear from Strathfield, most of their speakers aren't great, and you could get much better quality, yet around the same price, from professional car stereo places. If you can get a good deal on a Head-Unit, that'll be great. Panasonic, Pioneer, JVC, Alpine all make some nice head-units. I personally prefer the Panasonic line because they look a lot cleaner, smoother in terms of design. Each to their own though!

There is a $400 Pioneer headunit going around for $200 at the moment. Check that one out, should be able to get it from JB if not any other audio place. It does all your MP3/WMA etc.. ****. 4X50W.

Save yourself $200. Install the system yourself :D

Most round Speakers are measured in cm, where as ovals are in inches..
13cm= 5.25 inch
16cm is 6 inch
17cm is 6.5 inch

15x23 is a 6x9..
