View Full Version : battery box removal
now i did the briefest of searches, and found that the battery box was discontinued after a little while in the magnas anyway, but im looking at removing the battery box so i have a little more clearence for some piping. However, what if it rains? i know thats why you have a bonnet, but im still not 100% sure on how safe it is.
i have a TE. so should i do away with the box? or just leave it there? surley it was put there for a reason?

I wouldn't really worry about if it rains. The chances of it getting wet is very very slim. Besides it doesn't matter that much if it does get a little wet.
If the box is in the way of something then move it if you want, remember you can always put it back in if you have any problems.
i think it was there to keep the battery cool or something someone once said.
i do not know why though. not many other cars have battery boxes.

dont think it'll get wet that much. just remember that tj dont hav a cover plus bonnets hav rubber seal to prevent liquids getting through. or y dont u put ur battery in ur boot like jowet did to giv him some room on his cai mods

well if you do decide to get rid of the batter cover/box would you be interested in selling it? mine has some of the frame but it's missing most parts looks like it was stolen when it was being serviced or something  i would like to complete the look hehehe ( im fussy)

get a mega-blingy dry cell battery, as they dont require a box, or venting, like gel and traditional lead acid ones.
make a fibreglass hold in the corner or somewhere behind ur amp. you'll figure it out.

I got my box off (that doesn't sound right :shifty: ) to find that the battery would get so hot it boils and actually burnt into the underside of the bonnet!!!

Just leave it on man, it keeps things visually neater in ur engine bay.
