to anyone who cares i went to the drags last night, constant 16.6's power is now delivered linearly so i hope this problem will be fixed soon. Track Temp was at 24* for my runs and i put my hand into a machine at work the night before, which means i have a sore finger but i still wasn't going to bad could maybe pull a 16.4 with this set up...
Anyway what have other done in there 2nd gen stockish manual 3L v6's??
cheers

I was gona say that prolly a good time if your standard or close too, but then i looked at your profile and you have quiet a few engine mods. I was thinking high 15s would be achevable in a v6 manual with those mods.
Do you have dyno figures?

good stuff mate, atleast you have a benchmark now.
hasn't your car run 15.3 in the past?

i did exactly the same
YOUR CAR ISNT STOCKISH FFS
its like got a ton of mods, when you said stockish, i thought u meant CAI, exhaust, wider wheels, lmao, not all that stuff, would be hard to compare, did you ever run your car like stock as a rock down the drag strip.
would be interesting to see what a stock V6 TR does down the quarter

aside from his cai extractors and exhaust, it is fairly stockish, the other things are just plugs and leads, hardly gonna make a difference, take note people

i would of thought those kinds of mods would of made a fair difference on the car, he has oversize throttle body aswell, hes got some decent mods on that car, a fair few $$ from being stock.
i saw the plugs and leads aswell but thought with the lowering, wheels, everything really, it wasnt really stockish anymore
but point taken nevertheless

cheersyou seem kinda sluggish off the line most of the night but still went alright
my mate did a 12.6 as his best that night at 118mph

yeah my knee was ****ed (soccer injury) i was launching way better last time but like i said maybe 16.4 or so....
throttle body = better low dow response maybe 0.25kw gain
leads and plugs just give you efficiency and reassurance, they are still getting fed the same current from the stock coil...i didnt expect any power
wheels and lowering probs would have slowed a stock car down i dont know where i should be that why im asking for stock times...
its done a 15.1 with the last engine in it but that was at 5degrees
this engine has a problem which i'm chasing, exhaust could be bodgied, i'm unsure if i'm still running lean.... hope to find the problem when the chip goes in....
my opinion a stock v6 manual should be doing around 15.7 or so
i didn't put extractors or exhaust on so that may be a problem i don't know if theyll be able to tell from the dyno but i think it's something to do with this engine, as i said power comes on linearly so hoping its just ignition timing or similar, last time i was doing 17.3's and now i've had injectors cleaned, cai, panel filter, and the plugs leads....

If it had pulled a 15.1 in the past I'm very impressed.
16.6 is a fair bit slower, I wonder why its so much worse?

I think the previous owner did the 15.1 not the current owner :)

hey mate, do you think the previous owner was full of sh*t? or can you see it getting down to those times again?
so yur new engine is still doin this ?
have u compared yur 60'fts and mph to the old time slips ? maybe suss out where yur loosing all yur speed

TZABOY's old car...i havent seen timeslips. I'll put it on the dyno and see whats going on, still don't think its right down low torque is ****ing amazing and top end is ok but yeah im not convinced....i need to buy a dyno...i hope to get to it

is this new engine a brand new engine? like reconditioned or something? or is it a second hand engine from a wreckers? The times your getting seem well slow compared to the old engine (if that time can be believed.....) but at the same time, a low 16 pass is about what i would expect from a 3.0 manual with those minor mods, so your only a couple of tenths off what the pace of what i would have thought it should be doing.. and if its a brand new or reconditioned engine it may have just not fully "loosened up" yet

its a recondition engine with about 60000k's on the clock...the engine sounds different (stock growl is awesome) to other ts' with exhausts and its lagging top end a bit.
You gotta remember that 15.1 was in 5* degrees i think so i think a good 2nd gen v6 manual would be able to do a high 15 easy.... plus compared to commodores i though my sisters ks would smoke similar commos (auto), a vs manual did a 15.9.
mid 16's aint that slow but yeah i think it should be a fair bit faster, power delivery is weird and it was running lean for no real reason probably still is....
IM ***ING ANNOYED,
thanks guys

maybe the next step is to fully go over the fuel injection system to make sure its all running properly.. then perhaps hand over the folding for a proper dyno tune.. expensive but atleast then you know your car is tuned as well as it can be

yeah i took it in for a dyagnostic tune (at APC) found spark plugs of the wrong heat range momentarily ****ed compression....300$ but 80$ for me as didn't make it to the dyno & they gave me some platinum plugs then...
i'm getting a fuel pressure regulator kit off anthony next week hopefully but it'll probably be the week after (money to buy food instead :doubt: ). I dont expect anything out of it except hope it'll run her a little smoother.
Then as soon as i can save about 2k im chipping her (APC + haltech) so i should know the exact story and getting it running prime. Fingers crossed
thanks
