View Full Version : Vibrating Speedometer Needle
I don't know if there's another thread on this before but i realise when I'm driving at around 50-70 km/h, the needle of the speedometer vibrates and makes a ticking sound. Its quite annoying at times but it doesn't happen very often. Can someone tell me what causes that ticking?

I'd say the needle probably just needs tightening, mine does it when i'm doing 80km/h a little bit.

Could be in need of a new speedo cable. The ticking noise could be the square plastic part spinning around inside the housing in the back of the speedo which it shouldn't do.

my hilux has this.
i was told the goop at the back is either not enough there, or have dried up. makes the movement smooth.
as for the ticking i had this for 1 day, with my friend, never happs with me.
but i reckon its the gears again, same probleem with the goop not getting any lube.

yeah no one ever does them..... i think the problem is the speedo cable gets stretched.
