ok the new engine is in and run it, BUT it feels down on power compared to the old engine. My extractors are now working properly but just doesn't wanna go as hard as the old girl did. What's up with this?
She's also drinking more fuel. I'm chewing around 2.5L per hundred more than i used to :( so not a happy camper.
I'm gonna take off the pod and put the old box on, see if that makes it run better but i doubt it.
Any ideas boys?

In due time my friend
so if it won't be up to power till 5000 down the road, i shouldn't thrash it too much?

you can drive hard....the best way to run in an engine is not not let the engine catch up with the throttle...eaze it in and rev it out...should be nice
after the first 1000-2000 kms it is "run in"...it will loosen up alot more after the next 2000

that should improve my fuel economy i assume after a while

I wouldn't thrash it till at least 5000k's, after about 2000k's you can rev it a bit harder but don't redline it yet

but don't redline it yet
woops, well i've found cut-out 2wice, once in 2nd once in neutral, but i grandma drive most of the time so she'll be right
I don't know why you people are recommending such huge run in periods. Although it's controvertial, some engine builders recommend almost thrashing the engine straight away. And there are quite a few examples of these engines living long and fulfiling lives.

porchse thrashes the engines in the factory.... the first 100km of every brand new delivered porchse has been thrashed on a treadmill kinda thingy...
if they do it, so can you :D
how about something as simple as the O2 Sensor? :)

my mechanic told me not to floor it, but introduce the revs slower. he recommended loading the engine up at under 3,500 RPM, go up hills in say 4th when usually taken in 3rd to raise the compresion on the rings. After about 500 km's i went over 5G but not flat out but was flooring it to about 4,500rpm which was hard cause i still had that stupid exhaust leak. It could be something else causing the lack in power and bad fuel economy seeing it's still using the original injectors, better still the ecu could be ****ed which would be handy in this time of poorness

Oh I'm sorry. I forgot that our universe's physics doesn't apply to Porsches. Quite a few people on peformance forums run their engines in the same way.
