problem with the wiring most likely. check the power and speaker wires, plus ground point. make sure everything's secure, and nothing's flapping around.

Your amp may be seeing a short.. Check if the protection light is on..
Steps to solving the problem.
1.Disconnect the Sub wires Positve Speaker wire..Then see if the amp stays turned on..
Sub is stuffed if the amp stays turned on.
If the amp still dies then we have to keep problem solving.
2. Check your Gain level, if it is set on Max , turn it down to 3/4 if it is on half, turn it down to 1/4. If the Amp turns off again then your Amp is stuffed (remember all your Amp setting or right them down so you can re configure it if this is not the problem)
3. Check all fuses there may have been a short and it has only just frayed the fuse and not blown it entirely and is allowing enough current to flow through to turn it on then it blows.
Replace fuses as necessary.. If amp still turns off.. Amp is stuffed
4.Check to see your connections are all secure and there are no shorts with the cars metal..
If amp still turns off we either have a stuffed remote wire on the Deck or the amp is stuffed..

I once had an amp that was playing up a little :doubt: just added a switch to it to turn it on and off, worked great :D

My old amp did this a couple of times, just over heated.
How long after it cut out did you try it again? i'd leave it overnight and see if it's good in the morning, otherwise do what magnat said :).

The first wire I'd be checking is the remote wire. Probably the most likely one, provided nothing is stuffed.
But yeah, as above ^^

would this happen if you had accidently wired it to the electric arial wire? just an idea.

Yes the Electric Aerial Output will go off if you switch to CD..Switch it to Radio and see if the amp comes on and stays on..
