water pump may be rooted, your thermostat could have seized closed or very near closed. is you thermo fan coming on?

fans come on after the gauge is very high
thats strange, your fan is supposed to come on after the temp is only just over the regular operating temperature. The sensor(s) in the radiator would be stuffed and not coming on until too late.

Didn't you huff your magna, if so your radiators' probably got buckleys chance of keeping up and your gonna need some more area or more cores in it, turbos add huge amounts of heat stress to your cooling system. The radiator in it was only designed to cool a 90kw astron not a 150+ kw astron :P

could be the following . rad cap, thermostat, waterpump, blockage in rad,, blowen head, no fan or fan not cutting in or not e'nuf fans on the rad.

water pump fixed turbo bak on route
so it was the water pump,
so anyone getting back pressure and steam coming out of the overflow, it will always be the water pump as soon as that baby stops working the pressure has no where to go but back out the overflow and cause its not completing the cycle and getting cooled it will steam out
theres my brief car mechanic guide
cheers

lol, my water pump was ****d one day (barina  ) i was filling her up with petrol, went to pay, came back out and saw radiator fluid comming from under my car, looked underneath and was dripping like crazy (must have only just happend) but car didnt overheat..wierd tho. i made it home (~10km trip) and got it checked and got the water pump replaced.
my point was that the pump was ****ed but didnt overheat. was just wierd to me.
