ok i know you guys are going to say "use the search" but i tryed that and there was crap everywhere but ive been trying to install a tacho in my TE for a day now. i have looked everywhere for the negitive to the coil but there is nothing....i can't find the engine daignostics (i can't spell for sh@t) plug to hack into that so im stuffed...any ideas as to where the negitive to the coil is or where the daiagnostics plug is?....it's only the single cam 30L v6 with the distributer with the built-in coil....

Whats wrong with the standard tacho, or are you putting in a bread and butter plate sized one in

nothing wrong with the standard....mate of mine sold his $350 tacho for $110 and i thought it would look good in the magna, 4" with shift light couldn't not buy it for that price

Seeing as the only rice i like is the rice used for side dishes, Im not a fan of the big tacho. The standard one does the exact same job. Why change it?

orginal tacho is to boring and i don't like different colored dash backgrounds....ive mounted the tacho where it can't be seen outside of the car so it not like i want the attention. any way i don't thing i need to explain why i want it.... i thought the forum was to help ppl out by sharing infomation with fellow owners....everyone is different with there oppinions and sure ppl like to express them but hey i like the look of it and if it's gonna work and look good...why not?

yes you can put them on automatic cars.

i did a little asking around today and acording to a few mechanics (speed works and rpw) you have to use the wire that goes into the ecu. does anyone have any diagrams or info on what wire does what on the ecu?

i read on one of the boxes u have to unplug ure factory one for no particular reason.
.... itd bug me having a gauge not functioning.
and i read another one for replacing with externals among using the wiring off ure dash in the first place.
there helpful directions for old cars without tachos.

i dont have ure engine so i cant help, but thought id give u those 2 pieces of info which i found on my rumaging 1 day

not necessarily now cops are hot on these things if u hav it and obvious from outside say good bye to ur 100$.a friend of mine contest the fine and did'nt win in the court. coz they say if u hav an after market tacho it leads to becoming a hoon. dont qoute me on this though :cool:
