I got Warned by my Mechanic to day to slowly apply my Hand brake, as it is likely to snap if I jerk it on to quick

He has Tightened it up so I only have to click it 3 times and the brake is on...

Any Idea's how much new Hand brake cable is ??

I've inquired about a replacement one for a 3rd gen cause i hate the std handbrake on all the magna's and i was told about $150 fitted. The one in my TJ is really grabby which makes it difficult to help me do hillstarts etc being a manual. My TE isn't to bad grabs nicely and doesn't stretch much at all but a mates TF is absolutly rubbish stretched in a week and everytime its adjusted it just goes back to the same a week later.

i got majorly ripped with mine, $300 fitted and they had the car all day (soming about having to rip most of the inside pannels out to replace the cable. :confused: )

and even then it still suck'd (wouldn't hold the car on a forwards slope)

finally got it fixed by my locl mechanic when i put it in for a service (and he never charged me at all for the brake)

so check around and try find someone who actually knows what they are doin (the guys that fitted mine were ment to be brake experts, pfft)

when u get it done, you have to make sure they tighten it up at the back wheels and then take up the slack, otherwise there is a pin in the rear that can fall out then u in trouble

The Hand brake Cable seems to be breaking near the left side mount on the Brakes itself.. so I have to be gentle, it may break or it may hold out... just have to wait and find out..

Personally I wouldn't wait to find out if the cable will break knowing me i would get it replaced asap.
