a bloke i was talking to today reccomended some kicker subs to me. 2x12" boxed for $499. they sounded insane. but i hvan't seen much talk about them on here? any thoughts on the brand?

yeah, they're good honest to god stuff. worth the money:)

they we're circle... but they shook the whole frigen shop! origionally i was looking at 2x12" JL 3w? (i think) they were liek $450 each... then the dude showed me these, i was so tempted to buy them right there and then! thought i'd get soem advice first though :P
either way,. i have to wait till next week agfter my timnig belt is done so i know if i have enough money :(

Kicker do have a good rep in building great subs..
But JL Audio look so much more sexier !

Have a look around and consider what you want to achieve and how much you are willing to spend..

for round one's, it depends what type they are if they are just ex's don't get em
but if they are CVR's (ie comp vr's) get em for shore. I use to have just one CRV12 and i loved it. Then again i did trade up to a square 15 so a little different. But quality all the same

iv got vibe splits and have heard vibe subs and i would recommend them. my new sub soon will be a vibe blackair 12". mmmm

Kickers are good quality ****. Produce great bass. It'll keep your car shaking till the car falls apart lol

how much do those vibe subs retail for by the ways as im looking for a replacement for the Alpine type S i have

FYI - Righty: The square Kicker subs are called Solobaric subs. they come in the S5 or S7 series, or the mega expensive 'X' series. fantastic subs for the price. I love mine!!!

get a sub from digital designs, image dynamics, diamond audio, focal, hertz, polk, phoenix gold etc etc :D

If you want to go all out, Earthquake Sub-Zero 12" Subwoofer, 2000Watts, that'll put cracks in your windows :-)

Funny how people buy a brand and stick to it, had a look at the Lotus subs and they have some mean specs.. havent heard them though.

GTVBOY just bought a Kicker EX 12inch ( i think ) has an fs of 20 :shock: and sounds pretty good for the price. Goes fairly loud as well.... like all kicker stuff i suppose. :D

I can think of at least 3 subs that would put that to shame.... Boss, Avalanche and Jensen 12inchers running off a 3000W Solid Audio amp.... yeah yeah. lol

Nobody or next to nobody has Heard of MAGNAT let alone laid there Eyes on one of there woofers yet in the UK they are ranked fairly Highly...and in the Home Theatre worlds they are one of the Best...

Have a look around, EEK suggested som great Brands who build plain looking Subs that simply go off...

Yeah i was hesitant to put Jensen but couldnt think of anything else besides kenwood but they now have a huge woofer so guess that only leaves sony :bowrofl:

There are lots of stuff we dont get but we can make do with what we do get, there is enough choice now to confuse me! Some woofers look mean, I love the look of a Vibe space, Boston G5, DD, RE XXX with there phat surrounds.. IDMAX is ugly IMO but yeah sounds very very nasty good lol

I've always loved Kickers, but as you say, may car audio guys don't rate them much.
In america they are huge but just don't seem to get the publicity they need over here.

i've been running 2 x 10 in my old car for ages and everyones like wow, what the hell you running. (you can also get real good sound outta them from home made boxes and cheap amps, you don't have to go all out to get good sound from these suckers)

i've been running 2 of them off a audioline 600max 2 chann. (subs are rated at 200 max each). i've bridged the amp so 600 is goin into each sub (but yes, i have back'd the gain off)

sounds mad and i've had them running like this for 2 yrs now so they will stand the test of time too.

anyway, really concider them as they are a great product, just highly under rated.
