View Full Version : Bullbars or roobars
G'day all,
I know this is probably different to what you'd be normally changing on ur magna's and stuff. But yeah, thing is I want a bullbar or a roobar, and before ya's say its gonna be ugly and stuff - i know, but what looks better a roo dent in the bonnet or a bullbar with a little blood? and which is the cheaper?? Right.
Ok anyways, my question, do any of you have bullbars on ur magna's and if you do where did you get them or does anyone know where i can get them?
I am from outback NSW in the upperwestern corner and have just bought a '97 TE Advance and would like to invest in a bullbar and spotlight setup to protect me from them small accidental knocks by animals.
Any help would be appreciated. - might post on the forsale/wanted too :)
Cheers guys.

go to your local 4wd store - these guys should be able to hook you up.
the difference between roo bars and bull bars - is one is made of ali and one of mild steel (of course the steel is stronger and can take on bulls - but is also heavier)
All you need is a roo bar and some decent spotties - your local bloke should be able to hook you up and i have seen magnas with roo bars so i know it is possible (scary sight - white magna - chrome 17's factory ride height with roo bar!!) hehe

and some rock busters!! hehe with a big lorg horn sticker across the back window.... and about a dozen cb antennas! Oh and you've got to make it as loud as possible!!
have you thought about those little sound radar anti-roo devices... a lot of the cars around home (not so far NW NSW, around Tamworth) have these and i havent heard of one getting hit yet! They have been around for donkeys years so other advice would be easily attainable... you 4WD specialist may even know!?!

I have 2 of those little whistle things on my car...
Never been hit by a kangeroo yet.... (knocks desk)
I did hit a pluver the other morning... damn thing flew out and I hit it in the backside with the top of my windscreen. :(
no damage to me... didnt see the bird cartwheeling over the road behind me ... so Im telling my self he is fine...

mmmmm yes birds are a common thing that i hit too. They never do any damage unless ur unlucky and hit them right on ur lights or grill and they might break ur light cover. :? But that's life - they don't do too much damage. Worst thing is when ur in a car with a low open airvent like a falcon and they get stuck in there and u forget about them - few days later they SSSSTTTTTTIIIINNNNKKKKKKK
Main concern is the kangaroo's - ain't pretty when u knock one for six!
Dingo: Yeah them deterrent devices might work a little - better than nothing i guess, but they are still ineffective on the whole. At home we have plague proportions of roo's that like to have parties on the roadside :x but yeah if a roadtrain can go past them at 110 clicks and they still standing on the side of the road dazzled by lights and eating- what good is a little whistler buzzer thingy gonna do?
But yeah i do drive slower of a night because of them, mostly just dodge them and never hit them, but every so often there is one you will never see and you'll nudge 'im and break a light or a small dent. Hence the reason for a 'bar. 8) Nothing can fix the problem better than a chunk of metal!
But no seriously, another topic, Bullbars in the city?? Whats ur opinion?
I think its bloody stupid - I wouldn't be getting a bullbar unless i needed one so why the hell city people have them?? Especially on their 4WD's that have never seen a dirt road! shokkin'

bullbars in the city are useless, and annoying! like urban 4WD's, they shit me too!! i'll refrain from getting carried away!!!
(just like to say that i have lived on shit dirt roads all my life and have not needed a 4WD... shit, even dads Patrol gets put into 4wd maybe a dozen times a year, and he's bashing around the property (bit over a 1000acres) most of the time!)
as for the little whistle/buzzer thing (possibly called "shu-roo") it actually makes them run away cause they dont like it!
In your case (being out so far west, where a lot of water (condensated) runs of the road) i'd be looking at a bull/road bar as well....
i reckon you should get a bar as tough as this!!!
