From looking at the attached picture is anyone able to tell me if my air filter is standard? when i fist got the car i bought a replacment one and the lable had the correct modle and year on it and the guys in the store said it was the right one, but when i got it home is was completly the wrong shape. And yesterday i went to the wreckers and looked in some other first gen engines and notices that the shape is differnt again and its mounted in a different spot. anyone know the answer? and i hope that all made sence!

That looks normal to me (well, looks like mine anyways). Maybe the guy thought that you had a carby version ? they might be different to the efi

did u specify
EFI magna 1980s model. 4cylinder engine.

for some reason theres a record of the v6 80s model being in australia. even mitsu has it.
but the v6 and TR was panel filter wasnt it????

Yep that is the standard black box that surrounds your air filter. it is in the right spot too nothing unusual there.

I removed my filter box completely and modded the filter. Gets a bit better fuel economy and sounds nicer IMO.

Exactly, was the one you bought white and real short, oval like a horse race track? you could have the carby models one. The TR 4cyls one is different also isnt it? the v6 is different again.

Hell, that's one spectacularly clean engine bay. Methinks I might have to scrub mine when I'm swapping the motor in. (To be fair, holing the block does put a bit of oil everywhere)

me thinks i see a mark on the cruise control cover box. hehe

if i was you i'd be wanting to remove the zorst manifold cover. those things have a nasty habbit of hiding cracks in the manifold itself.

you going to get a K&N filter replacement, or just a normal like repco brand?

but yeah, man i'm jealous of your car, where's it been hiding. wanna swap? mine has a few mods. lol

if u go panel or pod, u need a new intake box, or to remove your current one anyway.
ive heard of a problem with this involving the air flow meter. someone can elaborate.

dont go either pannel is for 2nd gen, pod will screw things up with your airflow meter, ill post the part number tonight for the K&N oval replacement mine cost me $120

TM-Terror looks like you exhaust manifold gasket has been leaking, while mine is spotless i should repaint my lukey extractors black and my rocker cover white

yeah it did hey, but it came straight from the exhaust shop like that so i guess they didnt tighten it up at first. i checked them myself and they seem pretty tight. just had a new engine put in so im guessing ill get new gaskets
