I was having a look at THSmokers CIA kits and noticed what seems to be a pod filter that has had the base cut out to suit the Air flow assembly. Got me thinking, seeing as there is so much discussion about the pros and cons of pods swirling and straightening air etc, has anyone ever considered using one of the old style ram flo filters. They are designed to bolt onto a weber or similar but if you cut the base out to suit, I can't see any reason why they would work quite well.
For those who aren't familiar, they run a foam air cleaner with a mesh cage over the top. That in theory should allow the air to flow straight through, no swirling etc.
The only possible downside may be the amount of flow they allow.
I looked at one tis morning and it's dimensions were 140mm x 114mm oval shape. They are a lot more compact than the Pod Filter.
If anyone knows more or has any ideas, I'd be intersted to hear about them.
