Hi all,

I was just checking the tacho in my TP auto, at 100 km/h it was showing around 2700 when in 4th overdrive.

I replaced the original Tacho with one from a 4cyl Renault and just wanted to check that it is calibrated correctly. Please state your rpm at 100km/h in 4th overdrive so I can see if it is showing an accurate reading.

Thanks in advance.

different model, same engine, around the 2700 mark stock, down to about 2200 with mods.

...stick shift boy

you are so American.

Also i find it interesting, considering i have no idea how autos work, that with mods you guys can bring down your rpm in certain gears, wheras us manuals have the same rpm no matter what, we can just get there faster.

this is interesting, i noticed yesterday on cruise back on the highway mine was anywhere from 2500-3000. generlaly 2700, but at 110 up hillish it got up to 3000, 4th overdrive. Doesnt worry me too much, but i can see those manuals with 5th help :P

actually, german. lol
dont forget we have the tcu that does alot of work to ensure decent rpms per gear for speed.
at 70ks im usually about 2000rpm in 3rd with the exhaust droning its ass off. hideous noise, so i stay at 65 or 75

stick shift, ground effects, aluminium, congress, social security.
hahaha, ehh its to early

Ahh who cares, it aint aussie mate!

Yeah with manuals its always the same, good for if your speedo dies :P

4th at 2000 im doing 60
5th at 2000 im doing 80
So i spend most of the time in these 2 gears.
If i want to get ahead of ppl, like at lights ill hold 3rd until 4000, up to 80 and then switch to 5th (if i wanna cruise at 80 that is)

Strangely enough, in 5th, 2000 is 80, go up 500rpm then your at 100, but go up another 500 im only at 110, i thought with gears and stuff it would all be linear, ohwell.

Oh and i forgot the laser, its at about 2750 in 5th for 100, 3000 for 110.

nah there not linear, that's how you can change ure gear ratios to allow either more short distance power, or long distance travel, standard is just for fuel consumption. but if you alter the gears, you can gain power down low, mid way w/e they do that in rally heaps dependant on the tracks coz u can gain extra seconds dependant on your gearbox config.

My KR pulls 2200 at 100k after the torque converter locks. That seems low compared to the rest of you.

ummmm, V6 makes a diff? i'm sure they woulda altered the gearbox for the v6...... perhaps. *shrug*
mines low due to mods. so mmm.

Meph
08-08-2005, 07:18 PM
well yeah, you have mods so you have more power = lower rpms, the v6 also has more power = lower rpms

Aströn Boy

Nice low revs, im assuming you have an auto? My TP magna is just stock atm, but I plan on changing the carby over to one of the two Weber's with help from my dad 'Triox'

I will report back after we muck around with the carby's and let you know if there is any difference and what it is with just a carby change. (I don't know much about cars :) )

i donno, i was thinking it might hafta to do with where im getting my cold air from maybe?
but both bxc7 and cartman are getting similar to me, so i donno.

OD only comes on at 60-70kmph. If its on from the start, you need to put your foot down further to get the same acceleration.

just cruising along at hundred in overdrive, it's around 2000... very similar results for my parents hyundai elantra, my brothers hyundai accent and my grandpas hyundai excel (yeah i know! hyundai family, except for me lol)

all cars are autos, all have o/d, all are around 2000ish give or take 100...

Gav

Mine used to do 2250ish at 100km/h. The 3-4 change was about the only gearchange that box could do smoothly.

TP auto, in O/D
for a few minutes (while it's getting up to temp i think) it's around 2500

then it drops to around 2250 and stays there

and at 110 it's about 2500
