Hey all great to find a site dedicated to my favrote car.
i have a tm that my family has had since new its an elite with a manual convestion, i redrilled the vr4 box to fit it as it has recently been turboed, it has a race spec cam duration was 312 if i remember correctly, yet since it has been turboed i find the turbo is hitting on the fan on the radiator when i back of the acceleator fast, does anyone know were i can get a thiner fan to use on the radator, or know an alternative radiator thats smaller, its a td04 wrx turbo, runnings 18 psi boost, also i have a 24 webber of an xf straight 6 fairlane, and even though its turbo its still ideling realy ruff and richly with the stock gets, and stays rich until about 7500rpm

does anyone have any ideas to help or has anyone else done this before

thanks heaps

Questions....
1. How are u running the VR4 box in 2wd mode?
2. What injectors are you running coz i doubt stock could cope with 18psi and still run rich.
3. What Engine management are you running?

But yes, check your mounts, also i think you can get Davis craig thermo fans that will be thin.

You idiot Sogg...im dissapointed in you.....He says hes running a WEBBER....i relate this to a carburettor....

~

Ok, theres a few ways to go about this, what i did when i had my turbo on, i mounted the fan on the FRONT of the radiator, so i had 2 fans there, both were set up to start at the same time (No AC fan). This isnt hard, you can mount the bottom part on the oil cooler mount, and the top can be screwed into a beam running across the top.

Or you could do away with both fans and get one really large one....

As said before, mounts might also be a problem, the rubbers in them tend to wear, from memory, you can buy urethane ones (I think thats right....might be another material) that will do a better job.

~

What modifications have you made internally to accomodate for 18psi?
Decompression gasket?
Is the carby set up draw through or blow through?

Hope that helps somewhat.

pics will come when my and my mechanic works out these problems and set the car back up,currenlty all a pic would look like would be a 2.6 magna with a webber and some shiny silver pipes, yet no exhaust manifold, turbo, radiator, air con raditaor as thats all out to help my car go, i spoke with him again today, 2 week old engine mounts are broken so we will be going to urathane ones, hope they will last, looking at reloacting the engine fans, and if its still not suffecant room re making the exhaust manifold. and the webber is just a tuning problem, not jets, thats a relife as there difficult to find atm, my mechanic said that he was going to try a vr4 box i thought he did, yet decided not to cause of wear on the diff if it was locked would be insane, or something, so its a km210 ( i think its from a tp?) with a custom lsd.

thanks for the help so far

and to help cope with the 18 psi after destroying the first engine i used on 15pis, it has forged 8:1 pistons and a low comp gasket

the stock rods are pretty strong forged jobs anyway arent they ?

oh btw, id say get 1 bigass aftermarket thermo fan from SCA or similar and hook that up to the front side of the radiator or stronger engine mounts.

it seems im the only 1 with a working xf webber... suck... LMAO kidding lol

seeing as i too have a TM ELITE ill tell u that we are a rare kind and have a diffeent radiator.. our radiators have 2 bloody fans on them and not 1.. if u go for the radiator from a 89 exec it has a gay little fan on it that however tiny seems to cool it fine..

have fun with it and id like to see that car VERY MUCH! and am interested to know just how well it goes.

Your radiators arent differant, most Magna's i have seen have 2 thermo fans, one is for the radiator, and one is for the A/C...

Actually, all Elites have two thermo fans.
