Did this just happen overnight or did you have a dead battery recently?
If yes on the battery, disconnect your (new) battery for 5 mins then reconnect.
Start the car, rev it to 1500 and keep it there for 30 secs.
Otherwise the whole idle control module might be dead - it ain't cheap.
Its the grapefruit-sized box where the throttle cable & quite a few wires goes to.
Buying used is a big risk as there's no easy way of testing it on the bench.

no harm, worth a try ... before you fork out $300 for a new module.
Some of the roadside guys don't know much about our "older" cars,
this is a fairly common happenstance with Mitsus.
4cyl?
Check all the wiring to the module too, make sure not corroded and soak with some WD40
on the contacts if necessary. Sometimes water can get in to the contacts when washing.
The idle module sits on your air intake, there's a little motor shaped like D-size battery
where if you loosen the 2 screws you can rotate it to adjust the adle speed.
But don't adjust anything unless you know what you're doing.

ahh ok, just checked your specs - you've got a 4cyl AstronII TR.
Wasn't sure, as you had that red Ralliart in your avatar. lol
3rd gens seem very finicky when idling with a dodgy battery too.

idle was at 2000 rpms but i lowered it to about 1000 so all is good now.
