Hey I got 2 pioneer 6x9's in tha back shelf of my te (is it a te mines a 98 advance...)
Anyway I swear they used to Go good with my old deck in my datto...
in the datto i made the shelf with that wood stuff which starts with an m...
mdf???
anyway it cranked for 2 speaker system!
anyway.. the in the magna... it dont sound that good nor does it CRANK (hate that word) that loud!!! It distorts more and is all round.. well eh...
My deck is better i know it is... old one was a panasonic.. new one is a alpine....
is it the shelf that made it better??
and how the hell do i make a custom shelf for my magna without making it look dodge!!!

i don't think it's the shelf. 6x9's were designed to use the boot as the box, but as usual the bigger the boot the lesser punch you get from the speakers. it's like putting 8 inches subs in 12 inches sub box. that's the idea.
if it distorts, better check the wiring, as stock speaker wiring wasn't design to handle big power. i assume your deck has 50x4 power, as oppose to the standard deck that came with 20x4 power.
and please remember that a 50wx4 deck probably only puts out between 16-22 WRMS, which is the key figure. As i will always recommend, go an external amp to get your monies worth out of those speakers.

thanks :P tf te tr kr kv cpr sgio.... all meen the same in my books :P
Hmmm yeah it is 50x4 and yeah my datto boot was small!! had the fuel tank behind the seat  and had an inflatable seat in it (DEFLATED... ehehe) and cricket gear....
so the space was a lot smaller than this HUGE boot.... Oh and i did use proper speaker wire not the standard wire which was amazingly just a single + and the speaker connected to the chassis of the car for negative (in the datto! was funni cause whenever it rained the whole car would screw up electricly and the sound would be distorted..)
and damn i didnt wanna have to rewire the car..... DAMN!!! i hate doing that!! anyone wanna do it for me :P
maybe your run em off an amp,
wouldnt need nething huge, like just a 2channel one, makes a hell of a difference, my mate bought a sansui or something like that off brisbane car sound at a sale for $100, was a 4channel with 840watt max, sounds heaps good for the price, with no distortion
