Hi All,
I've lowered my TJ 2001 with Low Kings all around and fitted CSA Edge 17' rims last saturday. Now the problem is the car has the noise when I release the accelerator at low speed. The noise sounds like the tyres rubbing the guard, but I see the big gap between them!
And also another funny noise when I reached 75+ kms from the front left wheel. Anyone has the same problem with mine before? :doubt:
I might take the car back to Beaurepaires in Glen Waverley VIC. They charge me $1900.00 all up for CSA 17' rims, Kings Low suspensions, lowered, wheel balancing, Dunlop 235/45/R17 tyres. Although they have a great customer service.

is it just me or are those wheels sticking out of the guards?
as for the noise, it sounds very strange, is it only at low speeds? coz i guess it could have something to do with the new tyre/rim package, but wheel scrubbing is normally at higher speeds and cornering.

the wheels are around 2-4mm sticking out. beaurepaires told me the CSA edge is not 7.5-inch wide as stated on their brochures. The specification on the box stated 7.8-inch.
And yes the noise only occurs at low speeds especially when I release the accelerator. I suspect there are some loose bolts somewhere.

Check in the front guards that the plastic moulding isnt flexing back at speed. Its a moulded piece that is screwed on to stop mud and crap flinging into the front area of the bumper.
Mine used to scrub when i would turn the wheel.
As for the other noise. Make sure they have tightened the top centre nut (its in between the 3 strut bolts located in your engine bay.
As for your wheels.. Make sure they are the right type because they shouldnt be sticking out of the guards.
take them back and get the right wheels.
That is illegal having yur wheels stick outside yur gaurds. So if u get defected go straight back to them.
sounds like u got the wrong offset. but definatly take it back and get some that fit inside yur gaurds

Offset is all wrong - that car is not driveable like that! Yellow sticker defect for that sort of thing, they are very picky about rims/tyres.

Is it illegal for 17x7.5 rims with 235/45/R17 to fit Magna Exec TJ?

17 x 7.5 should be fine as long they are not sticking out of the wheel arch.

It not the width of the wheel or tyre, its the offset. I have 18x8 and its not sticking out. Take them back and get the right wheels.
And the noise, are you running on stock shocks? If so, think about changing to aftermarket ones like KYB. I changed them to that recently and man, it made a huge difference in drivability. They are heavy duty, so your stock shocks won't last long.

IC. I might be wrong if the wheels sticking out, will have another closer look after work.
Yeah I'm currently on the stock shocks. By the way, does anyone know how much are the heavy duty shocks available in the market these days?

I paid around $500 delivered from Anthony. But that was a while ago and he may not be able to do the same price anymore. Just talk to him under the Philcomm Rally section of the forum. Just ask for KYB shocks. He needs to know what you did with the car ie. lowered with kings lows... he will help you.

Don't worry about the noise now. I found out the right front wheel was only fitted with 3 nuts!! and I was driving with it for around 100ks+!!
I was in a freeway today and found my car vibrating a lot then before. Then I exit the freeway and stop in the nearest train station and check the wheels in the car park. I was surprising that 2 nuts out of 5 was missing!!
Then I pull one nut from the back tyres and fitted in the front one. I went back to the Beaurepaires and they didn't admit they forgot to fit the whole nuts as they're always 100% make sure all fitted before release the car. They told me someone must've unscrewed them and asked me if I have parked the car somewhere not safe.
I told them I usually park the car either in my house or work car park which is a secure car park. But anyway, I forgive them for this as I'm still alive and well. :doubt:
Has anyone had the same/similar story to this?
Do they have a lock wheel nuts for the magna wheels in the market?
I rang Repco and they told me they don't have one for Magna.
And what do you think about this guys, since the petrol price went mad:

Umm thats pretty bad dude...
lol good customer service, but forgetting to do nuts up...
I doubt someone else would take em off, anyway good to see problem solved. Did they say that your tyres are legal though, cos you'll get in a bit of trouble for tyres outside the gaurds.
nice rims
Peace

mate,
it's definitely illegal to have your tyres 'outside' the guards. it's something that you must address or else you WILL get defected.
go back and tell them to sort it out for you. get another design or find a set whereby the offset is right.
good luck

After a closer look, mine is actually not sticking out. Only the bottom part of the tyres which is normal because the shape of the guard. But will confirm again with Mitsubishi Chadstone shortly together with the major service. Cheers.
