CAI is definately worth doing. In combination with the other mods I had at the time the difference between my bodgy $15 PVC CAI setup and the factory intake snorkel was on the order of 6kW ATW tested back to back twice on the same dyno.

yea ...

alot of ppl say why bother only a small amount of power will be gained butseriously u do a few small mods here and there that give say 2 or so extra kw's all of a sudden u have and extra 10kw's and a better setup that can take advantage if ur future mods even better:D

guys the stuff i bought was in total. about $36 the pipe was $30 from supercheap auto. and the adaptor was about $6, from bunnings balcatta, called PVC Storm plumbing adaptor or some **** like that.. u need the 90mm into 90mm one unless your pipe you buy is going to be bigger. but the 90mm fits straight into the, oval air filter thing. like it was made for it..

yeah hes right
its round u squash it to make it oval, thats the whole point of the adapter.

No point buying a pod without some sort of heat shield.

genetikz

well how come heaps of other people have them but dont have a pod box then?

well how come heaps of other people have them but dont have a pod box then?
Because they dont know what they're doing.

Basically, sure you'll get more air in with a pod, but the air will be MUCH warmer than if it was enclosed, So basically by putting a pod on without any heat shield, you wont get any gains, probably work out to be about the same as a standard panel. Depending on weather conditions, if it was a very hot day you could even see some power loss. With the pod enclosed, you'll see so much more of a gain. But if all you want is a cool induction noise than dont worry about an enclosure :).

is there any options for a heat shield of some sort?

The Photographer
18-08-2005, 09:50 AM
yes heat shield are possible and widely used to funnyly enough sheild heat from the engine.

HOWEVER

it is still illegal to have an exposed filter
all filters must be in a fully enclosed box.

im not sure why but i beleive it is an old law something to do with carbyd cars and the air filters catching fire, i have no idea how this would happen though
