If you want to save a few dollars, Online Performance Autos on Ebay sells high flow cats for around the $250 to $280 mark - and in a variety of sizes. They are "Redback" brand cats.

Other than that it all sounds about right.

the flex is a woven metal pipe that allows your exhaust to flex backwards and forwards because it's a fwd.
engine rotates forwards without a flex you would bend you exhaust and snap it.
I asked about the flex too because I didn't know what it was and thought i was getting ripped off.

As for the C\pipe, might have something to do with the extrators.

Yeah all fwd's should have a flex pipe. If an exhaust place tells you otherwise they are being dodgy. I have seen first hand what no flex pipe on a fwd does to the rest of your exhaust system.

Im useing a second hand CAT from a VT Commodore at the wreckers. only cost $50!
Flexi pipes in good condition for $50 too!

Thats like $340 saved just like that...

Just cos its used doesnt mean its no good. if its a recent model car, and even V6 parts are designed to flow more than a 4cyl. I got my HI Techs for about $60 too! brand new never fitted.

to save even more i got quoted $70 to install the Extractors. then do the rest myself...you could remove your existing exhaust and get the shop to install just the manifold, and bolt on all the rest yourself , its not too tricky even with a few mates helpin out...so thats an extra $160 saved...

So with a few pre loved parts, and a spare Saturday you could save about $500!
Thats like a weeks wages...
