Thanks guys. Ive just spent the morning familiarizing with it and i love it. Every bit of it. Im still trying to get used to how it all works like when the windows wont and will work and the cruise control functions, trip compter, etc. I had a commodore (VS) before this, with none of these features so im fairly new to it all.
Just a quick question. Temperature gauge: Mines sitting spot on in the centre - half way between hot and cold. Is that normal? Because the car i had before on normal temperature (thats when it wasnt leaking coolant) it sat sort of quarter way above cold.

You have 3 days to supply a photo or a ban might occur!

well the fuse/relay would be your first best place to check under the bonnet.

I have a Gregories Manual and it looks like a pain to replace... anyway, that should have been working for a roadworthy surely?

Anyway yeah, check the fuse next to the battery first.... if it is not the fuse then things might get a little trickier.

Wherever you got it from should have to replace the horn or get it fixed, as it shouldn't have passed a RWC without a working horn...

Kommando
14-08-2005, 06:49 PM
OK. Now im a little paranoid. In the manual it says that the fuse for the horn is also shared with ECU. Now im not a mechanical wizard, so i cannot work out what the ECU is. And would it reset anything if i pulled the fuse out and checked it?

rocket.
14-08-2005, 07:21 PM
I dont know what it would reset, but the ECu is the computer that makes teh whole car work. lol

Well in that case it is not the fuse. Since the fuse feeds ecu and horn according to manual. So if it were the fuse, i dont think i would have been driving the car for the past 2 days.

Don't get too worried, it's probably just the horn being faulty itself... ;)

Kommando
14-08-2005, 08:24 PM
ahh im not fussed. taking it back to dealer tommorow to see whats up...

Anyways i thought id express my thoughts on how stupid it is to feed the horn and the management system through same fuse. Id thought something so critical should be a separate relay.

14-08-2005, 08:28 PM
Yeah I couldn't agree more, atleast you didn't go to use your horn while driving and it shorted out your ECU :P. Coulda been another nice magna down teh drain.

Well not quiet. Now im really confused. Manuals drawing shows ECU and HORN on same fuse/relay. So i just went outside and in freezing melbourne wind checked the fuse unit cover. It suggests differently. Separate fuse for horn. ahhhhhh anyways ill just go to the dealer tommorow and get this sorted out.

Good thing about byuing from a dealer, just take it back adn let them work it out! lol

OK as per my : 'horn' not working:
Update: I didnt make it to a dealer today. So off i go inspecting fuses on my own.
Fuse next to my feet for the horn is fine. Fuse in the engine compartment is fine.
BUT when i had the bonnet up, and by pressing the horn, i can hear a tick every time i press it. NOW i also noticed a relay (little black box) amongst all the fuses in engine compartment. COuld it be the relay? Anyone had this happen to them?

sounds like the horn itself is faulty

OK. Just drove the car into dealer this morning and as soon as i mentioned TL and faulty horn, all he said was, we'll change it for you in 20 minutes time. Which was exactly how long it took them to do it. Nice bloke there at Heidelberg Mistubishi explained how TLs have a common horn fault and they changed another 3 yesterday too. So if anyones horn stops working on a TL then thahts what its most likely to be.

mine was replaced by a 2004 nissan pulsar hatch horn sounds better than the magna one so go buy a new one from the nissan dealership like i did 33 dollars cause you will keep taking it back every week

Congrets with your car.

In fact it was due to ridding this car when I rented one from Triffty, that gave me a good impression about Magnas. The cruise control is a plus thingy when you driving to long distances. Anyway long story short, I thought of getting a Camry, but decided to get a 97 Magna instead as it was cheaper and it drives well.

Again congrets with your cool Magna

Yes this place does seem to become addictive after a bit of posting and reading. But damn usefull to talk with people who drive the same beasts :D
Oh and i had a ball purving at all the VR-Xs in the yard while my horn was being replaced. lol Ill be back there shortly for my 30k service...
Anybody have any ideas just roughly what its worth at a dealer? Thankss Guys

Well no it's just that i'm pedantic, so far, had the driver seat replaced, rear screen, charging system, battery, clutch, and ABS sensor. OH and my cat is geting replaced as a peace of metal from the exhaust turning vane came loose and went through it.

Other then that FINE.

Whooaa!!!!!, thats mighty unlucky of you WogsRus, so many things in a relativly short period of time!!....its a shame I cant share Kommando enthusiasm regarding the appearance of their front end, my taste stops at the TJ\KJ models, coulnt pay me to own a car with a nose like a TL, but all the same, welcome to the world of Magna's mate, you wont look back, dispite WogsRus's extreme misfortune, they are in fact a VERY reliable vehicle - hence the introduction of the 5\10 year warranty (although the 10 year bit wont apply to you, only for original purchaser  ), it has, along with the TJ\KJ, earnt itself a place, its just a shame they are so under-rated and they lose thier value so quickly

Anyhow, you can look forward to continued enjoyment for as long as you own it.

Enjoy :D

hay don't get me wrong, at least unlike the commodores the engines don't come standard with piston slap. LOL. :D

I think these cars are good, great even. I think that with little bit more attention to detail, they would be EXCELLENT.

I love the look on pleoples faces when a magna beats them and flogs them off the lights. :bowrofl:

As for the styling i like the TL, and hence why i got it over a TJ it's all preferance, thats all.

Like i said before, get a nice xorst, filter and bobs your uncles brother.
