the bigger the rim u go, the smaller the tyre ure gonna want. otherwise rubby rubby.
unless u dont lower the car then u can go abit more.

yep, the tire size listed in the first post (205/45/17) should be the right match in terms of tire size, i was more thinking of goin wider (215 or 235) but not sure if that'd fit within the guards.
and the twins idea is just toying with, not sure if we gonna but as it's me girls car, we'd probs go twins with like the "heart tips" or something to that effect so gayness would be to the max, it'd just be "i did it cos i could, just to be diff" sorta thing

i hope u are meaning a muffler with twin tips like those on the early model subaru libertys. and not a muffler and tip either side of the rear bumper.
is anyone running twin zorst on a first gen (one each side of the car)
muffler and tip each side.
i'd been thinkin a medium dump as the tips but Kats thinkin the heart or star deal
like this but on a first, just wanna know what you's recon it might look like

was helping a guy a while ago do this, tho i havent seen the ass end of a sedan for a while, from memory its easy and was a matter of getting a t-piece after the sub muffler which is to be made ure prime mufferl, and then 2 pipes leading either side of the ass.
wagons cant do it unfortunately.

ahhk thats cool then 215s should be ok but i would say 235s would just be too wide on gen1s

yeah, i had a look at it when we first got it and it's the same deal i had with my 3rd gen (everything is setup for you, support hooks and space for the muffler) all you do is gen it split just before it kicks off to the side, then you just mirror the existing setup accross to match. my bumper was a lot thinner so it was just cut using knife, not sure what we'd do to this one, might have to get a body shop to sort it for us (if we go ahead with the twins)

this is the first 1st gen i've played with so it's a fair bit of gather idea's/oppinions of what works and looks good, mixed with a little bit of "give it a try and see how she goes".
we only paid $700 for the car so we don't mind messin with it to see what we can do.
ohh, if anyone is after a elante skirting kit (front, back, sides and wing) and lives in brissy i know where theres one s/h for $150 - $200. not sure if thats a good deal or not but hey... just letting u know

hmm elante kit sounds cool but i'll leave it, gotta keep the bastard going! 17s fine i run 215, they had no scrub issues before until i changed the steering rack, and after i got my wheels aligned with it, a little before lock going one way it scrubs chronic. But this didnt happen before, so you should be fine with 215. I really should do something about it but its only when parking that it happens, it just has an even worse turning circle now :bowrofl:

dam that looks nice, well, after the zorst they will be my next aim.
as for the car itself, got the RWC done today and the car is on the road.
and believe it or not, i ain't seen a DOT (sept. of Trans) vehicle inspection unit in, hmmm must be a good year or 2, but sure enough, on the way to the RWC, got pulled up at one for no plates. you wouldn't read about hey. (ps. all was ok as we had all the required paperwork to be driving it, and the RWC station is like 1 km from my place)
but alls good, so now the real work can begin............ will keep u posted
ohh.. can anyone recommend a muffler that sounds good on one of these babies???

im not too sure about off memory the 225/45 tyre may be a few mm too small and will throw ur spedo out by aproxx 4%, tyre prices are generaly 110 - 140 depending on what u like. tempe tyres sell good tyres for good prices. 120 each for falken ziex 17s very nice. off memory the apropriate tyre sized are 215/40 and something like 235/45 ill have a check and get back to u all.. i wouldnt suddget 235 tyres on a 17x7 rim
yukky..
if u want tyres and rims see tempe tyres.. i myself am i very happy customer

well i got that tyre info like i said i would.. so here goes
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/km Difference
195/65-14 127mm 305mm 609mm 1914mm 523 0.0% [STOCK]
215/35-17 75mm 291mm 582mm 1829mm 547 -4.4% [WOOPS]
215/40-17 86mm 302mm 604mm 1897mm 527 -0.9%
225/40-17 90mm 306mm 612mm 1922mm 520 0.4% [FEKTIK]
235/35-17 82mm 298mm 596mm 1873mm 534 -2.1%
hope that helps sogg.. fektik learning experience for me im definately gettin the 225/40s
as for mufflers.. unless youve got a cam.. you might not want a muffler with any chambers in it.. as this will enhance the sound of the cam bump, seeing as the stock cams are URFF.. u will want something completely free flow yet with some bends in the mufflers, adding a resonator will also get rid of the piss weak cam sound and this will result in a nice deep and smooth note. as for cams unless u have a carby.. dont bother.. yet if u do have a carby i can recomend u buy a cam and have a semi baffled muffler fitted to your car, this is a muffler which has a single chamber in the middle with a slight offset between the in and out pipes. this kind of set up put together with a nice resonator will reult in a deep boomy sound. as for resonators, wiout one you will get a nazel and anoying note which can be heard very loudly in the car.
so the over all verdict..
stock cam put free flow exhaust with long resonators (18 inch) and straight through mufflers which have no chambers and slight in and out offsets = smooth deep sound
bigger cam put a decent resonator (12 inch) and a semi baffled single chamber muffler = nice deep boomy note (kinda like a rexy)
the choice is yours
have fun with it

lol, yeah, coz U of all people need it :P
i'm wondering tho if the car is calibrated per wheel. because my car came with 14" steeles, and all diff brand tyres that the front were diff size to the rear, etc.
15x6 is the factory max, so legality wise u can go 17", however wouldnt the speedo already be off by going from 14" w/e size they were to 15", so, my point is, unless you know the true factory tyre size, and what your car actually came with wheel wise. it's quite difficult to have a near accurate prediction of how out your speedo will be.
ok, tire size confusion.........
have a look at the plate (inside of drivers door pillar it should list the tires as 3 sizes
175/75/14; 185/70/14; 195/60/15
mine came standard with 175/75/14 from what i can tell
if ya wanna know what size tires you'll need (with almost any size rims) check out http://www.dsm.org/tools/tiresize.htm
this will give you the exact size the tire would need to be to have the same diam as the original. Pic the closest available tyre size to that listed and you'll be fine.
you can pick rim size, tire width and then it tells you the profile.
To check how big the diff really is, use the link in an earlier post and enter in the 2 sizes.
hope it helps Jonathan

i did all the calculations 100% with all magna wheels sizes 225/40 R 17 is the closest match 0.04 % so if ur doin 1000 km an hour a speed camera will actualy get u at 1004 km/h.. sogg unless u trade up to a 747 engine i dont think ull have ne problem lol

If you're tight for cash, I have a mate who is trying to sell some Galant GSR 15" with 4 brand new tyres 195/60/15 for $400 in Sydney. The spare has a 195/50/15 on it, as the car for some bizarre reason had all of 50 series tyres when he bought it. They look like those on my car below. I know they aren't the best looking wheels, but if you want alloys and lower profile tyres for a bargain, here it is. He had a prang in his car and sent it to the wreckers, taking some goodies off in the process.
PM me if interested, and I will put you in touch with him.
