Okai anyone who has a 2nd gen and a decent sub in their will know how much they rattle.
Or maybe its just my car but it use to rattle like a tin shed in a hail storm, it was shocking.
(if i stood outside my car and played music loud, you could see the boot would flex up about half a cm)

The lid took about 5 hours to do, becauseif you look at one, theirs two layers, and you have to slide tiny peices of SD under the top layer to get it on the bottom one.
After wedgeing back the top bit with a knife i wedged about 4 layers of SD under, then once all the holes were done the SD was just stuck ontop in whole sheets.

Now when you knock on the top of the boot its like knocking on cement, its beautiful :D

Now the most important part is the gain in SQ, and all i can say is amazing.

You can no longer hear the rattles of the boot, now you can only hear the rattle of the side doors (their next)

But the bass seems so much clearer now, more punchy. Maybe because theirs no more rattling to go along with it.

Theirs still a few rattles im not sure what they are but, one is the number plate, the others i think might be the lights, not sure.

Ill put up some pics, i gotta take pics of my carputer setup to show you guys anyways.

cheers.

A bit of foam will do the numberplate, or maybe some high density foam (its not foam, but the stuff used on doors to close it softly)

How do the lights vibrate? is it something inside the lights, or is it that actualy light casing (the red part) vibrating against the cars frame.

Also how would i do the parcel shelf, do people do it from the bottom (from inside the boot?) or do they do it from the top from the back seats.

Well ive got an LPG tank so i guess it will have to be done from the top, also do you think i should make speaker holes in it now, or just SD the whole thing and when time comes, cut holes in it?

Well, you really don't want to waste sound-deadening at the cost.

On my 3rd gen I deadened from the top. (inside the cabin) looks neater under the stock trim. And has no chance of falling off.

I did parcel shelf and rear seat. Still a few rattles but big improvement over no deadener.

Peace

Heh yeah, sound-deadening is boring as hell to apply, which is why I did most of mine in the middle of the night with a few drinks, makes it slightly more entertaining.

How much does sound deadenign actually weigh out of interest?

Well the Stinger Roadkill sound-deadening weighs quite a bit, can't actually give you a figure but my boot no longer stays open without the assistance of a broom :)
