I need a little help. Something is wrong with my engine. It blows smoke, I know why that is, but there is water coming out of the exhaust.

It starts sometimes, but sometimes it just siezes up, it doesn't move or anything. I've been told it might be one of the valves or water in engine but I don't see any white spots in the oil.

People have told me with the smoke blowing that there's too much oil in it. That's the last time i trust my mate to do an oil change for me while I am away.

So i was just wondering if anyone could maybe have look at it or something or maybe tell me of a cheap place I can get it fixed. Like not cheap cheap crappy job but you know, a good job. I might get the timing belt changed too.

water is a natural product of combustion but saying that i don't know how much is coming out your exhaust

if your car turns over sometimes and doesnt other times, it doesnt mean your engines seized. When an engine seizes it doesnt get un-seized overnight, it needs a rebuild.

If it turns over sometimes and not some other times then id say its your starter. If it STARTS sometimes and not other times, then it could be a multitude of things. And as GTRICE said, having a bit of water and steam at start up, especially in winter is a natural thing, when water comes out of the engine when the car is well and trulty warm, then you may have problems.

i dont know how many times you have to be told but here goes again.. FRIGGIN TYPE YOUR POST'S USING CORRECT GRAMMER AND SPELLING!! its almost in-bloody-possible to read your posts and make any sense of them whatsoever. Cracked Head Will Cause It .

if for some reason u have a major internal coolant leak into the cylinder the engine can hydraulic lock which is when both valves are shut and the piston is coming up. Air is compressable where as water is not. It becomes a solid. This could cause the engine to stop cranking like you are saying. Hope this can help out your diagnosis

This makes me think starter as if the engine was seized for any reason, like the cylinder filling with water, it would never start up. Being a sometimes thing, its prolly the starter or something electrical relating to the ignition.

smoke may be caused by worn vaulve stem seals

If it is turning over or trying to but seems like its seizing then you could either have a starter motor on its way out or have water in the cylidners and it could be hydraulically locking up, and then eventually bleeding hte water into the sump pan and then able to crank over.

Water in the exhaust is an indication of either blown head gasket or pin hole in the exhaust port which is leaking water into the exhaust and over night, will also fill up the combustion chamber.

Oil burning is not uncommen - dead stem seals and dead rings will do that every time. If it is burning oil when you take off at the lights then goes away thats stem seals. if it is all the time then it is rings and stem seals more than likely as well.

Ultimatly sorry to say, check your oil level and the rocker cover cap. if it has white frothy foam on it you have a definite dead engine on the way.

surely you know however that when writing a sentence you should use the word "two" instead of the number "2" and i am sure that you know how to say "i am sorry MY grammer aint good"

just talk out loud and type things as you would actually say things and you wont have a problem. I am sorry that you only went to year 9 but i know some people in year 6 who can make a better attempt at writing sentences then you can. If it was just minor things that someone who only completed year 9 would type then i wouldnt have mentioned anything however i dont believe you are even trying hence why i made an issue out of it. You proved this as your second attempt at posting was SIGNIFICANTLY better then your first attempt at posting in this thread and it was actually possible to clearly understand what you meant, proving that if you do make a proper attempt at posting then you dont have a problem. Continue to do this

I know this sounds stupid and a pain in the ass but if you have a version of microsoft word or something you could always type your post in word and then copy it to the forums. Then word will do the spelling and grammar check for you. I sometimes do this when I don’t know how to spell something.

yeah i have to agree with this, i know i probably came accross very harsh and i appologise for that, its just that 90% of people who talk like that on the forums do it intentionally and without trying, not due to any writing problems. yeah guys i know there alot of people that spell like that deliberatly, but i think we should all take it easy, its not he's fault, theres thousands of people that cant read or write properly, its not because there stupid, its because they werent taught.

im pretty sure you were just typing like it was a text and im pretty sure that i could spell dont, to, know etc quite well from the age of 6

The Photographer - if you can read you can write! If he is able to read the forums then surely he knows BASIC english like the words "two, know, dont"

as i said, if it was just general poor spelling and gramma then i would have no issue, but what he typed in his first post was just rediculous, even a 10 year old on a computer would have made more sense. Its obvious that not only did he not try to type properly, but he also did not take the time to proof read what he typed and make a bit of an effort to type properly. Phtographer did you see the original post before it was edited?? cos if you did you would know what i am talking about and you would not be calling me an idiot trust me.

i am actually dyslexic and also have trouble typing posts on the forums, yet i take the time and effort to proof read my posts and make them readable before hitting the post button.. sometimes spelling errors still "slip through the cracks" but generally my posts are readable. I fail to see why new magna owner cant do the same

mate, I now live in Australia for over two years now, and had 1 year of english at school back in Holland, was not confident with my gramma and writing too..

what I did and still do, is reading books, and read the word out loud..
enables you to speak properly and gives you a good sense of gramma too!
and if you trying to learn proper gramma, don't use the "short words", wont help you..

I can understand what point you coming from, just put some time and effort in it.. less then a year..
