alright, summing up from the other thread, this is the problems i ran into with converting to a digital dash... this is a TN dash into my TM leaded tm (<-- ran into problems finding a leaded TM Elite sender cos leaded TMs have fuel pump on the head - made up one using parts from both senders:P) - i'll fix this write up later - it's late atm
things you need:
*digital dash
*the three plugs with that dash... with enough wire to solder/crimp/whatever you want to your cars loom
*elite fuel sender unit with plug from car's loom - to replace the analog sender plug
*elite oil sender
*brake fail switch (i belive only tm's had this problem - TN's should have two wires to the brake fail switch, if not, then you need that switch with the plug)
*elite speed sensor off transmission, plus all the wire you can get with it (near the battery, there is a plug for it i believe)
Problems i encountered and solution:
*black, green + red wires join to speed sensor
*yellow/white wire attaches to the green wire of that speed sensor too
*orange wire needs 12+ fused (5A fuse usually sits in bonnet fuse box)
*on your car's loom, there is a blue wire that is on with ACC - you dont need that anymore - it was for the clock in your analog dash
*there are two black/red wires... one is related to one of the warning lights (door ajar i think it is) the other one joins to your ignition START wire (coloured the same colour)... i haven't joined this - it keeps blowing the diode on the back of the digidash... this is so the brake fail light comes on when you start to know the globe is working - not too important (well, it is:bowrofl: i sure as hell wanna know when i dont have pressure in my brakes! but not important that it dont light up with ignition)... i will work it out when i can be stuffed
*my brake fail switch only had one wire on it, although i think TN's have two (yellow/green + black/white)
*any black/white wire is ignition ON - there are two - i just joined them all together
*any black wire is earth/ground/negative - joined them all together
*there is two yellow/green wires... one is for brake fail, one is for coolant temp... the way you can tell is the coolant temp is on the white plug that plugs into the digital part, where as the other one is on the black plug for the warning lights
*my car being a TM carby, the TN did not have the eco light wire, actually it did, but was on the wrong pin on the plug - so i moved the pin now my ECO light works - it's a light blue wire... not really important but i went from tn -> tm car, your doing the opposite, and i think that light blue wire actually serve another purpose in a TN...
*new fuel sender unit uses same colour wires as analog, plug is different though... you have to get under the car and solder the new plug (do it with the fuel tank closed ie. sender in place:P)
*oil sender needs replacing with digital one... dash gets an analog signal from it, instead of just a oil pressure switch
i'lll add more and fix this up soon... but this should give you an idea of what's involved
Enjoy
