Hi,
I'm a new member and have recently bought a '93 Magna V6 Executive (I think). I know very little about cars, but am interested in keeing this one in good condition for as long as possible so am up for some tips or advice from people more knowledgeable than myself.
My main concern is that when accellerating through 40kph, the car starts to shudder, but returns to running smoothly at about 45kph. It happens if the car is in 2nd or 3rd, and seems to happen more noticeably once the engine has warmed up.
Has anyone else heard of anything like this, or have any ideas what's up?
Thanks,
Ben

could be the tires are out of alignment or that they don't have much tread left.

Thats interesting coz i have had the same problem as long as i have had my car. Vibration/shuddering when accelerating through second gear. Will have to run that by my mechanic friend as he could never pin point what was causing it.

I had the car serviced at a Mitsubishi dealer, and they've said it's the damper clutch and that the transmission fluid should be flushed "to see if that fixes it"... which wasn't the definitive answer I wanted.
They also came back with a looooong list of other things that need fixing, including the fact that the distributor cap is arching out. Could that be causing a misfire?
Other things on the list are:
Water pump is leaking: $720
Control arm bushes are split: $460
Power steering rack leaking: $650
Am I right to be stunned by these prices? How serious are the control arm bushes?

yeah they do seem abit on the pricey side, ring up a few different mechanics and get a few different quotes before you agree to anything, my mate used to have a 2nd Gen V6 manual and it was sort of shuddering under acceleration and it turnd out to be the injectors, i might recomend getting them flushed just as a precaution, it wouldnt hurt anyways.
