Firstly i admit that i don't know much about cars which would prolly explain the noob questions below. So i was wondering if you guys could help me out with them.
1. When i brake there is a squealing noise from the front. (i assume this means the brake pads are gone. but i only just replaced them under a year ago)
2. There is this faint ticking sound coming from the car and i'm not sure what it is.
3. Lately right after i park the car and get out, i get hit with this very strong petrol smell. I've checked for leaks on my garage floor and there appears to be none.
Thanks for your help in advance

Hey.. the brakes, if they are only a year old, could indicate there is a bit of brake dust in there.. so probably try and car wash with a high pressure sprayer and give it a good cleanout, works for me, otherwise there could be a tiny rock jammed in there somewhere though this is rare but i've seen it happen, or the pads could have worn quickly.
As for the fuel smell, mine does exactly the same, I havent found any faults with the fuel lines, or leaks whatsoever, but after a period of driving and/or driving it hard, I can pick the smell up, it's even worse if I have been driving it hard for a longer period of time.. so if anyone can shed some light for both of us that would be great.. It's a bit of a worry after the incident with Booya and hearing of other Magna fires... :(
Hope this has helped Evo065

Thanks Shamous69 for your advice. I'll head to one of those high water-pressure car washes and see if i can flush whatever it is out from the brake pads.
I've read a couple of threads on the 'ticking' sound. But i dont think mine is coming from the engine. It's barely audible and I only hear it at low speeds like when i'm slowly rolling down this hill near my place. I've checked undearneath and there is nothing i can see that could be making the noise.

No probs..
Also ticking noise.. Mine occasionally ticks, it's the tappets or lifters, cant work out which one, but it is very quiet and only happens when its cold and if I warm it up too long, like around 2 minutes. It only does it around 2,000km after an oil change so I change my oil quite often to keep everything fresh. Its just general wear and tear though I'm guessing.. mine has done 188,000km now so I'm expecting to hear some noises in the near future.

How much driving have you done in 1 yr? If they're sticking on, the pads could be gone.
Buildup of brake dust can squeek too.
If its a sharp metallic squeal... sometimes you need to grease the back of the pads.
You buy special anti-squeal grease for this, don't use normal black grease.
(most DIYers don't know)

3rd gen V6? When running?
The injectors tick on/off pretty loudly.

Carbon fumes cannister might be full or overloaded.
Petrol usually evaporates before you find it anyway, unless the leak is real bad.

magnas run hydralic lifters not tappets and yeah try giving it n oil change and use a good quality oil (pennzoil 15w50, ) and a new oil filter, see if that works if not atleast you know your oils good anyway
