hi ,
before i take my 1994 V6 ts magna to the repair shop can someone tell if i can do anything myself to correct some of the Magna's issues.
first, is there something i can do to correct the transmission lag when i put my foot on the accelerator. i have to careful when i excelarate because the transmission will pick up very quickly after the lag and cause drive train damage.
I have never changed CV joints ....is it a job that a person can do in a home workshop with a workshop manual or do u have to have special skills and tools
thanks in advance

Chuck power mode on and your "lag" wont be there, it'll kickdown straight away and go for it. Dont understand how you could damage your drivetrain from flat footing it though?

Sorry i did not explain myself properly......the lag is from when u first take off from 0km's...the car does not move for about 1/2 sec....so u have to be gentle with accelerator because the transmission comes in all of a sudden and "bang" on the drive train. Once in motion the car moves great! ….the bands do not slip......well as good as a 1994 car does anyway!
hi talkinghead- i get the same problem when i pull out of my side-driveway and start off downhill. it never does it when its flat. while that doesn't mean i can help you, it may give a clue to you or someone else what it may be.
maybe the transmission fluid level is low?? if this is the case then mine may also be low- though not as low as yours as the car has to be on an angle to act funny.

Cant convert a TS to manual from what ive heard without having a host of other problems. Apparently something to do with the ECU while TR on the other hand can be converted without major hassles. Also you dont really want to stuff around with the transmissions on these cars as very expensive to replace. You can get a transmission service for about $200 or so where they give it a flush and replace fluid and wotnot but id be talking to a transmission expert before doing anything to make sure its not a major problem.

Sounds like the car is slipping or not in D properly if it suddenly "Bangs" into drive. Could be a dodgy clutch or maybe even a stripped 1st gear?

No. auto have whats called a compound planetary gearset so if one of gears is slipping then its not just going to effect first gear but probably others as well. Autos are pretty tricky and also they dont have a clutch really. Which got me thinking it may be the torque converter. But as i said previously, autos are tricky things and best left to experts.
