View Full Version : remove factory deck to install pioneer
I need HELP. i have a tr magna that i want to install a pioneer deck into but when i pulled out the factory deck i found. 2 red and a black wire on the power side and four wires on the other. On the pioneer deck i have a black (earth) a yellow (Battery) and a red (Positive) were do these match to????? :( :( :(
ok the easiest way to find out what the 2 red wires are is to get a Multimeter and check. Simply connect the red one to the wire, and the black one to a bare bit of metal on the car. With the Ignition Off, one of the wires should have a Constant Flow of 12V +- 1v. This is Your Battery Cable.
The next one will most probably be your Accesories Power. To check this firstly connect the Multimeter as previously with the Ignition Off, and there should be no Power, no Switch the Ignition to ACC 'accesories' and you should get a Voltage reading as above.
Black is generally Negative, so unless something has been changed thats what it should be.
The 4 Wires on the otherside are your speaker wires. 2 Front Speakers, 2 Back Speakers. Simply look at the speaker connections to see which wire is for which speaker and connect them accordingly.
Once you connect all the wires, do not put the Deck in until u are sure that each speaker is connected properly. Start the Car, and fade to the front, and left and right, and back left and right etc....making sure everything works as it should. If not change the connections at the back accordingly.

haha yep... you've most likly blown your interior lighting fuse!
thats what happened to me the first time i installed a desk on my TR
i got the wrong wires crossed :(
seriosly the best way to install a pioneer desk is go down to autobarn buy a cheap magna stereo wire adapter... it goes from old sh*tty standard radio/cassette to any pioneer cd-player
without having to cut any wires or figuring out which wire goes where...cost about $10
which is the interior lighting fuse as it is not listed on the fuse box. :?
