Im not an Audiohead so go easy on me ;)

What's the deal with the stock 3rd gen speakers (rear) and their distortion at med to high volumes? Even with the bass and treble turned down.

Whats the fix for this? The cheap one please. I am upgrading my head unit to an MP3 pretty soon.

Thanks peoples :D

Aftermarket Speakers..
The Rear speakers are very poorly constructed paper coned Dual cone speakers with less wattage rating then your average LED..
Upgrading , Head unit and Speakers to aftermarket ones will increase Volume and music enjoyment.

Upgrade the Head unit first , then look at getting Either Pioneer,JBL or Alpine 6x9's

the stock head unit gives out less power then a AA Battery.. time to upgrade..

there's a thread here about 6X9s that pop right in somewhere - try a search. Or just go get a pair of the Pioneers 6 X 9s same as those that are in my profile - I ran those straight off the standard Head unit for a couple of weeks and the results weren't half bad either. Cheapo too.

Cheapest fix is putting a small capacitor in line with you 6x9 to get rid of the low frequencies...

This is whats causing most of the distortiong.

But an even cheaper fix is to turn the crappy things off. Upgrade ur front splits

With no Rear stage for Bass Tim the Sound stage is ruined..
Cheapest fix is to replace head unit followed by rear shelf speakers..

Expensive fix is to Sound Deaden the Doors and shelf upgrade to a Set of Splits followed by an amp followed by a Sub.. I beleive the Answer is the Cheapest..

Placing caps on the Rear speakers even with the Head unit with Reduced Bass setting will not achieve the desired result..

Head unit Sends the signals to the speakers, if this is inferioir then the results will be inferior.

Upgrade your Head unit first, for most this will achieve the goal you are after..
If still not happy, replace all Stock speakers with suitable aftermarket ones..
