F#@!!*&CKEN HELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just went to the shops to pick up the papers, gone 10 minutes max......
Get back to my car, some fool  has hit my real bumper, right on the driver side corner (in their red car), cracked the bumper and drove off........no note of anything.
Now I am after a new rear bumper for my Pewter Ralliart.......... if anyone has one lying around and would like me sell it to me, let me know, doesnt need to be pewter.
Let me go and mix myself a drink......double

What a bugger! sorry to hear it... thats why I try to park further away from the shops where there are more spaces available and even then park next to a pole or something where if someone has to park next to me it is at least just one side...
I have stopped two accidents in shopping carparks and put a note on the window of 1 hit and run with details... people just don't want to take responsibility for their actions... some drivers really worry me... no idea how some get their licence... (it's too easy to get IMO)
Phone your insurers and find out how much it might set you back if you can claim. It might be the cheaper option, unless your premiums are thru the roof.

Damn..
I was hit and Run before by a Red XF Falcon, a Lady got me his Details... We sent relevant Information to our Insurance company who later informed us the person has left the Country... Dodgey or What...
I was in Canberra and saw an Accident in a Car park and overheard the police officer Say " Madam, he is a Diplomat..I suggest you drop the issue and take care of the damage yourself"
Just because he was in a Merc with DC numberplates !!! They get away with Murder !!!!!
Poor lady was in tears, OK sure it was only a Camry but the Bumper was right off...

I would have gone straight to the media with that Police Officers name lol that's rediculous... anyway, loose change out of the diplomats pocket would have paid for it anyway.

you know many ppl always complain abt those bustards acting immorally in such a situation. but the question is, will You do the same if the situation were reversed? talk is cheap... since i arrived in australia 4 years ago i have witnessed no less than 3 such incidents in broad daylight and those buggers drove off immediately. the fact is, most ppl's first reaction would be to scram or face a hefty repair bill, and that's not even considering the victim wanting to punish you more by blowing up the repair bill.
of course in the ideal world, and being the ideal person that i am :D , everyone should be responsible and in future, expect reciprocation.

gauss07, you are very right... but karma sometimes catches up ;)
On a slightly different scale, when I was in youth work a young girl got killed in a hit and run not far from where I live... for days the Police tried to track down the driver... eventually she turned herself in... she was an elderly driver who was scared and in shock... sometimes the brain goes into panic mode, but I guess in the case above it was "oh ****, quick, I better bail!!"

I am insured for a reason. If I hit a car I would leave my details. I would expect no less from someone else.
Few years ago I reversed into a Camry and broke one of it's headlight protectors. Nothing too bad. I waited for the people to come back and explained and gave them my details. The elderly owner said if I replaced the protector with a genuine one cause he had to get genuines to fit properly it would be considered evens. I ordered them, rang him to let him know they were on order, gave him the order number, and drove 60km to deliver them to his door.
I got a Christmas card with a scatchy from them later that year in respect for doing the right thing. They expected to have to send their insurance company after me. I won $50 off that scratchy :D

How bad is the damage? Have you taken it to a panel beater for them to look at, it is possible to plastic weld damaged bumpers.

I learnt how to weld and restore plastic bumpers when I did my traineeship in thermoforming and fabrication, and it is bloody tricky work and I personally would not do, or bother with it, especially on a Ralliart. It is a shame though.

Before my Magna I was cruising around in my girlfriend's father's 94 Wide Body Camry. At Albany Creek Woolworths, I was over confident in my driving skills, tried to do a quick trick park, and hit a VZ Commodore. Not too much damage as I bashed the brake just before I hit, mostly superficial scratching.
I went into the shops, called over the Woolworths PA System, the guys Model and Rego Number, and he came. I told him what happened, offered to pay for any damage, showed him, what and how I did it.
He explained to me that it was a company car, and thus, any damages, and thus repair quotes would be done via the company, so I expected them to want a replacement bumper. The fleet manager/coordinator contacted me about a week later, and explained that since I had been so honest about the whole situation (big car park, very crowded, no-one seen me hit), and the ease of leaving outweighed risking a huge bill, that I was only up for a tube of touch up paint.
Cost me $14, and the fleet coordinator painted the damage herself.
Honesty Pays.

yeah honesty pays ,.... sometimes, however how many times have ppl exaggerate their damages and get stuff fix when its damaged already? Seen many cases of that happening, especially with older cars as there's more wear and tear on them over the years.

Agreed.
My girlfriend's brother bought a used Honda Civic, it was already dinted and scratched to hell, and a woman in a car park backed up (barely touched - I was in the car), and rubbed his right hand side rear quarter panel. He got out, chucked the ****s (elderly lady) and demanded a whole new quarter panel.
I checked out the damage, and she barely left a mark, I think she probably fixed his paint up a bit by leaving some of hers there.

Hi Guys,
Got some quotes today of course some said it could be fixed, a bodykit place said they wouldnt fix it as it would crack again in the same spot, quotes = $200 just to repair it to $1100 for brand new, painted and fitted.
Cheers!

My thoughts on that are that unless you plan to have the car in a show, go the $200. You are likely to have someone else do the same thing, and you would be pretty pissed if you had just spent $1100 and had to do it again. On the other hand, if someone runs up the back of you at lights, you can claim it on your insurance, the insurance companies fight it out, and you get a new bumper...
As said above, it can appear that repair costs get inflated, but as the owner, you can't just say to your insurance, oh the car had $200 worth of scratches on that panel, I'll pay for that. That's why I am insured, I don't want the hassle.
Last year, a guy ran up the back of me at lights, and completely flattened my bumper. There was no structural damage, luckily. He offered to "get his mate to fix it for me, only couple hundred bucks". I thanked him, and took it to my reputable smash repairer, who once the quotes for new replacement parts came in gave me the total bill of nearly $3000. The bumper cover was like $3-400, the reinforcing steel underneath was some $500, the metal apron below the plastic bumper (poor design on Mitsu's part) was $800. The lot had to be painted, etc. So, I put in the claim at the insurance company, gave his details, and let them deal with it. I now have a much better looking rear end, the old one had some previous damage, that the assessor at the insurance company could clearly see, but the insurance puts on new parts. Even though my car is insured for under $6000, for things like this, it's worth it.
My wife's car is covered in carpark dingles, it is really sad to see. You may even be able to pop out the bumper, then look for calculated red lights to stop at, that won't leave you with structural damage. Mine was in a line of slow moving traffic. The lights changed, and this guy was too close.

Decided to replace it, I will be getting the bumper from Ralliart direct for only $510, and my brother-in-law's best mate is a resprayer and he will paint it for me for $100 and a case of beer.
looks like the cracked bumper is yours Choonga, the whole process should take about 10 days, so I will let you know when I have it and we can go from there.
Cheers!

It would probably be cheaper just to claim it on your insurance...

I very much doubt it.
Claims without someone to blame (aka: offender), generally require an excess to be paid. Furthermore, when it comes around to insurance renewal, he would have had a claim on his record, thus giving way to potential increases in his premiums. And, worst of all, some companies may affect your NCD in the event of a claim with no identifiable offender.
