Having a problem with TS headlights , when cold they work fine but after they have been on for awhile you can turn them off but then they will not switch on , parkers are on but NO main lights. Has anyone else had this, any ideas to fix.
Cheers cliffp.

My old TR I had, a few times while I was driving along the lights would just drop out altogether.. it ended up being a faulty headlight relay.. maybe check it and if it's plugged in fully? Or replace it.. I cant remember the cost.

Thanks for the response, have replaced the relay+ combo switch after a small wiring fire in engine bay, maybe try another relay could be the way to go.

Sounds like the Headlight relay(same type as most of the other relays in that box), are you running overwatt globes? The relay and wiring can melt if you run overwatts without upgrading the wiring and adding an extra relay. Just an idea...

Thanks for the info but it has stock standard globes, have changed the relay, have changed the combo switch.

For everyone's interest, the stock wiring and headlight relay in a second gen will be able to handle the overwatts. I had to run a pair of overwatts bulbs when I had the original lamp housing for over two years.
