Are you saying you removed the center/honeycomb looking section of the cat? if so then you may have improved performance, but it is now an instant defect if you get caught, as it is an emissions device.
About the cost of a new one i'm not sure, but check in the phillcom rally section as someone was asking about a high flow cat not long ago, and its probably cheaper than a original mitsubishi one anyway.

some times when you hollow out your cat it might sound a bit tinny to fix this all you do is take it to an exhaust shop and get them to weld a pip through the middle of your cat take out the tinny noise and looks standed but not many exhaust shops will do this for you

but you havent done a bad thing unless you get caught that is but untill then you will be fine

and yes about $200-350 for a new cat i think correct me if im wrong

thanks

Well, he has done a bad thing as the cat is designed to control emissions, to stop nasty things like global warming. So yeah, get a new one.

:stoopid: agreed - I plan on living for a few years yet, not to mention the children. So maybe one car doesn't make much difference, but it bothers me how many people think it's "okay" to hollow out your cat......

You want to know how bad it is when you remove the cat. I dare you to stand next to your
exhaust and breathe for a minute or so while the engine is running. I double dare you.

Hollowing out that Cat achieves very little except for earning a Huge fine and a Defect sticker..

Some cars run better with the cat left alone, it has been dyno proven a few times that hollowing out the cat achieves nothing...
I would suggest replacing the cat immediately as the cat turns harmful gasses into innocent water vapour, I would hate to be behind you in a tunnel, the smell would be awefull.

While I agree with the idea that you shouldn't remove the cat', I double dare you to stand next to your exhaust and breathe for a minute or so while the engine is running. It's still won't be good for you. Cat' or no cat'
