Howdy everyone,
Have been looking at my car lately, and have decided that irregardless of the car being lowered, the wheel arches still give it a standard ride height look. Only way to fix that is to fill them up.
Currently I have 16" Rims, which I'm happy with. But I want to go something like 18 or 19".
Where's the best place to go for a nice set of 18's (19's maybe?) with rubber, and pay less than 2k?
I didn't particularly want to blow my money on a set of rims, but I think it would make the car look heaps better.
Have looked around, seen Bob Jane selling wheel and tyre packages for <2k, namely, AMG Quakes (very schmick) and Akuza's I believe (fugly).
Anyway, if you guys have any recommendations or advice, don't hesitate to reply.
Thanks.

I've never seen 19's with rubber for under $2000 but i think you could get some decent looking 18's with rubber for that :)

Sure, each to their own.
I personally think they look a bit cheap and tacky for the money they're asking, but if you like them, then that's all that really matters.

$1099 is not a Bad price for 17's.. as for Tacky and Cheap, they are a rather Handsome 5 spoke, very similiar to OZ Racing Vela

Infact come to think of it, they are nearly Identical... Cool..
$1199 for the Quakes is also good, but are getting too popular..

Yeah, seems to be a few around, but I don't think buying different rims to everyone else makes your car any more unique. In that sort of mindset, you might aswell invest the money and create some custom rims.
I think rims compliment an already nice car, irregardless of how many others have them (to a certain degree of course).

I got my SSV Splinters 18x8 with tyres fitted, ballanced with lock nuts and a wheel alignment for $1700 at The Tyre Factory in Lawnton. I though that was really cheap.

Just a question. With everyone buying new rims and everything nowadays, in a variety of sizes. People who have the TE-TF know that on the standard tyre placard the speed rating is 95. And besides breaking the bank it's near to impossible to find even 17" tyres with that rating. I know that it's possible to fit a TH placard and "dodge" the system with a 94 rating, but what about legitimately?
Anyway, the actual question is: do you all just get any reasonable tyre and not worry about the speed rating?
I would think that insurance companies would get their panties twisted in a knot if they found out while we're claiming something (hopefully that never happens).
I'm just thinking of getting new larger rims but it seems like no affordable wheel & tyre packages include tyres that satisfy the absurdly high speed rating.
Sorry about gatecrashing your post. :D

I second that!
95 load rated tyres of that size are never included in those cheap tyre/wheel packages.
It usually pushes a $1200 package out to $1600

Sometimes even with the money to pay. Rarely do places have stock for the high rating tyres.

Stripper, I found The Tyre Factory on Sherwood Rd Rocklea to have great wheel and tyre packages in the 18" variety. Infact I walked away with 18's + rubber and king springs fitted for $1800.
I walked in there to have a look after a catalogue landed in my letter box advertising 5stud 18" wheel and tyre packages starting from 1400 - so yeah, I'd recommend them to anyone.
Either way - good luck on your hunt!

Shop around a little, Bob Jane sells the Falken ZIEX tyres reasonably priced in both 17" and 18" I think my last lot of 17" cost $165 per tyre and the 18" cost around $200
