Im toying with the idea of gettin the windows tinted in the TP anyone know how dark i can go & what would sort of $ would i be lookin at?

35% is the darkest u can legally go, and that should set u back around $250

our cars can go darker due to the age. i have 38%, but u can get darker.
mine cost me $180 for a wagon, but i got 50$ off due to a mix up originally.

umm yes and no, technicaly u could say u got them tinted before the rule came in (pre 1993) then u can have them tintend how ever dark u like, yet yeah if u wanna be honest legit then 35%

Or you could have a friend work for a window tiniting company who shall remain nameless adn they do it for the cost of the tint.... ahh the joys of who you knwo not what you know - only set me back $50 for the tint and a bottle of jonny black...

i would like to drop it down about an inch all round but tint comes 1st after i do the tint i gotta chill on spending money on the TP apart a 2.25" fexipipe and the new VP commie Cat as i think my exhast flows too well with a hollow cat, spoke to a friend who designs lpg kits for cars and he said it sound like the o2 sensor isnt getting hot enough for good reading causing an ecu closed loop fuel map or somthing.

I made a comment today about how can people afford to pay for fule for a V8 i can hardly fule a modded 4 & the missus said well stop sinking all your spare cash into it why didnt you leave it standard, she had me i just said its fun to drive now :) , i think lowering springs front and rear would be about $340? but not untill id say oct/nov by then the missus will have forgotten the cost of the timing/balance chain wheels tint etc

for me i think legal is best i got pulled up for speeding becase the police hurd me down shifting gears the next street over from them 2 days ago i was like WTF you have to be kidding i was down changing from 60 to turn left coming down a fairly steep hill, well it was 68kph but they had no radar or laser on me it was a guess mind you i noticed he looked down at the exhaust when walking back up to my window to return my licence, been dam sure not to go over the limit since then... so easy to speed :cry: and with my exhaust it sounds like your trying to race even when driving normal, then again i think the guy who pulled me up was new to the area ive never seen him as i have alot of police as customers at work even TOG officers who i show my mods and say hay is that ok 1 even let me chase the tog car round town to check my speedo with the new alloys on

ok guys well i rang about 8 places about 20 minutes ago.
ARMA was the best deal i could find, closest to me,
$295, 25%, lifetime warranty against fading bubbling and going purple, and that includes taking the old tint off aswell.
im pretty happy with this deal, still justifying i have to spend nearly $300 :sook:

but ill post some before and afters so you'se all know how it goes

lol i had the same problem with tint on my eww datsun 240k way back many moons ago :) tomorrow must be tint day like you my tp is in at 10am for tints they said they need it for 4 hours, i removed my 6x9's and break light from the back shelf so its easyer for them & they dont **** my speakers.

Problem is now i have to work out if i should put the rear louver back on or not car looks cleaner without it and no squeak from the it as it flexes, Tuff TR last time i new bubbled tint like that makes your car unroadworthey

Your car is 1990, just say you bought your car like this, and the law was introduced in 1993 and I haven't been able to afford to get the tint replaced. After that, just bull**** on about summer coming up and that you don't want to get the tint removed without having new tint put on, as it could cause a serious accident. Cops will believe anything if you're able to make up a story that's valid.

They probably won't even touch your speakers, and if they do, they will be liable for it.

when i rang up this place, the guy actually offered to me without me asking.

he said something along the lines of

him - "we have many tints here for you to choose from there all the one price, ranging from 25% to 50%"
me - "so can i buy the 25% tint? and it has a lifetime warranty?"
him - "yes sir i have to get rid of these tints thats why there so cheap, so you can pick anyone"

btw i did ask, it is fully metlaized, 72% heat reduction, 99.9% UV absorbtion, and 75% something or other.

so this place is only 10 mins away from my house, if anything fcuks up, i can take it back:)

had the tinting completed today, IM SO HAPPY I CAN FINALLY SEE OUT THE BACK WINDOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its 20%, with lifetime warranty, and took 3 hours to do.

im very happy with the results, i havent given the car a wash, when i do ill post some pics, but these are how it looks now

i just came home from work, and as i was getting into the car, i could barely see my dad, if it werent for partially blue seat covers, i couldnt see anything, absolutly fantastic so far.

get the phone book or www.yellowpages.com.au pays to call around i got quotes $280 $315 & $420 guess who got the job, mine is 35% 99.6% UV block & 75% heat block and it has that chrome stuff in it so it wont go purple.

i have wires & the 6x9's are on spacers prick of a job he he

quck snap out the back of work in the sun, unwashed you can sorta see how dark it is by the bright sun through the windscreen & you can hardly see the seats :cool:

Yeah mines about the same as pete's.. model and everything.. minus the bad rims and 4x4 suspension. i got mine done from tint-a-car at kedron for $300 i think.. or $250, it was 'the darkest legal tint' or close too it, its kind of yellowy compared to the $500 and $700 tints

i know its not a first gen but im getting mine done on tuesday for $270..whatever % you want and it includes stripping of old tint

where from may i ask?, i rang around 9 places and ARMA was the only one willing to go below legal limit.

I got my tinting done today, had to walk up and down Sydney Road for 2hours whilst they did the job. Looks great, very impressed, best $250 I've ever spent. Seriously though, there's nothing in Coburg to do at 9am in the morning, make sure you have someone with another car to drive around whilst you're getting it done :-D
