has anyone ever hooked up their neons to a switch?? is so how or is there a guide somewhere how to do it coz im planning to

Skip into jaycar, dicksmith or supercheap and grab one of those cheap switches. Should be like, 4 bucks or something...unless u wanna go ricer style, and get one that lights up (i used to have one of those)

in short....snip ur power wire, and reattach each end to each prong on the bottom of the switch whoa la. some have 3 prongs, but it no matter.

i havent hooked anything up yet but what im thinkning of doing is snipping the power wires on the neons and linking them up to a switch and then i take it u hook a power wire from the switch to the battery???makes sense to me...what baout a fuse i suppose its a good idea to put a fuse in somewhere i heard u could get in line ones u think theyd work good??

obviously ur neons would have an inverter...i would imagine, lol

12V+ --- fuse --- switch --- +ve terminal of inverter

wot is the first 12v bit is that the battery???

12V+ is the power supply.

it could be your battery (if directly connnected, highly recomend u use a fuse)

yeh i was planning to hook it straight to the battery with a fuse do ureckon a in line fuse would do the job alright

personally, i just couldn't justify the effort of running a cable all the way from the battery, going thru firewall etc etc. its extra wire u need when u could just piggy back off the ciggie lighter power, and use that.

u're only running what...max 4 tubes? They won't be drawing too much power.

sounds like a good idea how do i do it though and if i do it can i still use the cigarette lighter normally??

hey i did my neons, i have a switch, 4 neons. 2 front 2 back, all into 1 cigarette lighter thing.

combine all the wires together and onto 1 of the neons cigarette lighter cords.

and run the 1 cable to the switch, then the other to the lighter,
easy as. if ya dont understand, hang on im drawing a picture. lol well yeah thats how mine works. im just looking to do something nice in my boot now. :confused: dunno where to start

yeh, i did the same thing as xplode, when i had 4 tubes and 3 LEDs.

i wired up the 3 inverters to the single switch, exactly the way xplode did his.

you can still use the ciggie lighter. All u need to do is splice the power wire behind the positive wire. I couldn't be arsed, so i just ripped the insulation off the wire, soldered an extra wire off that part, heatshrunk and taped it real tight.

i ve been thniking about this for a while but

i don t want to use the conector that plugs into the cigi place ??? i ve heard you can solder the wire from the back is this possible just didnt want it to been seen all the wires do you know which wire to solder where???

on a 3rd gen behind the ciggy lighter when you remove it are 4 wires, The Blue one Is Positive, and the black Negative, the other 2 are for the little light.

eeek my brother wired his neons to his deack main power, works better, i was gonna do the same, but i was late for work after installing them lol. so they just stayed there, i dont smoke anyways.

i've already answered ur question. yes, u can still use the ciggie lighter.

u could probably call me an audio enthusiast, so i didn't want to use the power supply to the headunit.

It doesn't matter if u use ciggie lighter or headunit power.

ok my bad thanks i got a pic up of the magna i should have by friday its a 97 tf exec. $5000 the guy selling it is my mums workfriend so he let it go for cheap to us ( not like it matters much seeing his new car is a brand spankin new ss commy) anyways wen i get it ill be busy workin on it and im sure ill have a 100questions so this wont be the end of me

well i did it i hooked them up to a switch fuse and all looks quite nice ill post some pics tonite, i hooked up the neon in the boot to the boot light ( which i removed) and it i reckon it looks pretty rad

well so do i, i spent 190 at autobarn yesterday and that was for 5 neons, 8m wire, nightshades (before and after pics), touch up paint, my swtich, the fuse, and the sub in box which ill post tonite with the neon. now im waiting for autobarn to get some strobes soo i can plauy with them.
