here it is!! (in all it's bare bones at the moment) after about 3 hours worth of sawing, gluing, nailing, screwing, sealing, wiring etc etc.. i now have 4 12" subs sitting pretty in the back of the TH.... now i just need a dB meter, this thing has sooooo much pressure. all the windows flex the dash and console and steering wheel bounces.... not to mention the rear seatbelts! i took a few photos with my phone.. so it's not the best quality, and i'll post some more when i finish all the trimming :D :D

Looks good.... no room to put anything in your boot anymore, but it looks good (and I'm sure sounds better).
what amps are you using to power those? and where are you intending on mounting them?

i can only afford 1 15" dont have the money to drive another sub =[
1 15 and 2 12's?
didnt you get phase cancellation?
or did u cut the 15 off at say 50hz and used the 12s from 50hz to 100hz
?
2 seperate amps?
interested in how you did this and how it sounds
same brand subs?
hope its not too big

urmm, it was a Rockford Fostage Punch 15" DVC and 2x Alpine 12" subs if i remember right. My car lived at the installers place for a while when I had the full custom job done (while I was in Sydney/work) and it lived a GuRus house when I first got the baby (he did the HU install for me when I went interstate for work aswell).
ahh how many litres are those subs meant to have for sealed enclosures? They sure look like they are in mighty small sealed enclosures..

if they anything like the silver bullets i think its 1.5 cubic foot
but if u putting alot of power into subs i dont trust sealed boxes

just an answer to a few questions.... yes the gold subs sound awesome... they have a huge tonal bass kinda like a 15, but still plenty of punch and very high SQ.. and they only need 28L! (the total box is about 115 i think)
i did think about porting and perspex (the magnets are huge! about 15cm deep and have a nice black and brushed gold alloy to them), but it was going to be way too difficult, and can't really beat the sound of a sealed box (pioneer don't reccomend porting them, even though they are ported in the MUSL ford truck)... strange
the amp powering them atm is a US Audio 1000D monoblock... running at 14.4v of a fusion 1.5 farad capacitor (averages around 13.2 - 13.8 during regular driving, peaking at about 14.8) it puts out about 1200WRMS @ 1 ohm, so about 300WRMS into each sub... i will be upgrading to a Fusion Jonah Lomu series amp, which will be about the 1600WRMS mark, and a couple more caps, but i'm concentrating on finishing the trim at the moment. there is enough room either side of the box to mount the amps once the false floor is complete, there just down either side atm.
the entire box is made out of 18mm MDF, lots of carpenters glue and gap filler sealant... hopefully this box holds together, we made sure we did it as strong as possible, pre-drilling each hold and glueing and sealing every gap and hole possible... (i rushed my last couple of boxes and blew them apart!)

Im thinking 4x12" DVC subwoofers, feeding 600wrms (put two of those USAudio amps) would be nice.
Saw a pulsar with one of those amps and 1 15" sub and it absolutely cranked. Not bad for a cheap amp.
I didn't think it was 1 ohm stable tho ?

yeah the amps are very stable at 1ohm. when they were running at 2ohm, i couldn't even get it warm... now that it is 1ohm it gets slightly warm, but not even close to hot!... yeah you'd definatley need 2 amps for 4 DVC subs, mind you the newer amp is out and that is 1200WRMS at 12v... so should be about 12% higher with a capacitor!! :-) that would be ver nice!... i did a bit of a test today... put a couple of test tracks on, and stood outside the car with the door open.... you should have seen my clothes shake! it felt awesome!
i actually prolly wouldn't reccomend going any louder that what mine is at the moment, because i'm gonna have some serious rattles developing! hopefuly the car holds together! (and i'm serious about that, re-welding panels and welding all the bolts would probably be a good idea!)

My god, that is truely insane and credit is certainly due. Those subs are fantastic, i was using the Pioneer VCCS ones before and a mate of mine had the same as yours and sounded great, i wish i could see this in real life

i'll definately/maybe be out on the next cruise, (i have a tendancy to double book, but i think i'm clear!) i think it's the friday 19th of september?? hopefully i've got the front 2 chambers sealed up fully by then (we were running out of time, so we bolted and glued the bottom on, but didn't get to seal it, i fixed the rear 2 later, but i can't lift the box out on my own to get to the front 2) hopefully i don't get a flat... eek! but definately a great anti-theft device!!
the funny thing is that most people don't even realise that i've still got the factory speakers hooked up!! i'll get around to that soon... i just love my bass too much! mind you the factory's in the altera's aren't that bad.
