well people, heres my problem..got in my car the other day, radio, cd player nothin worked..ive still got the stock radio unit in and 10 stack cd player that plays through that..the stacker still turns on but the radio is buggered, doesnt even show the time or anythin, but the back light is permanently on, even when i turn the car off the backlight for the radio stays on...has anyone had this problem or would u know how to fix it cos i dont really wanna pay money to have it fixed when its prob sumthin simple and im just useless lol

Ditch the factory Gear and get an In dash MP3.. Problem solved..

with what money lol im cheap atm, saving up for schoolies and lots of grog, etc, etc, etc..would be helpful if there was an easy solution to my problem, anyone else had this happen?

Have you checked your fuses ?

why would the backlight of the radio still be working if the fuse was blown?

dunno but it cant hurt checking,
the only other thing i can think of is take your console out and check for loose wires.

Perhaps the backlight is on the lighting circuit and the power to the HU is a different circuit. So, maybe the fuse for power to the HU is blown. Just a thought. Not sure if the lighting wire to the HU has power for the backlight or is just a switch to turn the backlight on.

Grog only lasts one night, an Mp3 Player can last for years.. think about it..

alright ive kinda got it sorted..got a 200 loan from my dad lol and i just got 320 bucks back from tax return so i booked my car in to get a new head deck put in..at this point looks like its gonna be the new JVC KD-G515, but im gonna see if hes got the 615 there tomorow so cos i can hook my ipod up to that one..wat u guys think about the new jvc units? seem to sound alright and looks sweet..gonna be $270 for the 515 or if hes got it than $300 for the 615, plus installation of course

I have the 615 and all the Aux jack is for is so you can connect the I-pod, but not control it..

yeah i know u still gotta control the ipod wheel..not from the cd player...but can u even hook an ipod up to the 515? cos thats whats important to me
