are dark tints on ur tailights illegal? has anyone been pulled over for it?
yes its illegal....no i havent been pulled over for it.....
depends how dark u go....if u go flatout black u will more than likely get pulled over in no time.
Hrmmm ive had mine (about 6 or 7 layers) for a couple months now, and ive had police sit behind me several times... at night, at day... but have never been questioned/pulled over. It is ment for 'off-road' use, but if your being a hoon, and looking for trouble, they will prolly add it to your list of defects.

to cover your arse if u have dark tintage just always drive with your parkers on it creates the illusion that there not as dark as they really are. plus also its a safety thing

are the brake lights just as bright and do the indicators still flash a decent orange light if u have like a pretty dark tint?

Not so much during the day no, but during the night the lights are quite noticable... although mine aren't AS dark as say [THUGDOUT] and Eek's are

silver and white magnas are the only cars that should have frosted lights
all other coloured magnas with frosties should burn! (NOT LITERALLY)

Yeah i agree magnas can get away with quite abit simply because its still a magna, But In cases like SYNRGY and Boooya and BRICK, there not really magna's anymore so there gunna attract quite alot of attention.

I got the word from the RTA inspector the last " Cruise Inspection" I had to go through and as far as the Law is concerned, as long as your Tail lights and Indicators and Reflectors are visible from 100 Metres at night or 50metres in fog they don't mind.. It is up to the individual officer to advise you if your lights are too dark..
meiztom
24-08-2005, 03:40 PM
so what about insurance companies do they care?
magnat
24-08-2005, 03:42 PM
Insurance companies will reject a car with Mags and a Bodykit so what is to stop you tinting...

Anything that is not roadworthy (ie. tail light tinting) on your car they will certainly care about, and so might you, if you end up in an accident pending investigation... (a bit extreme but possible).
You just have to keep the question in mind... are you willing to risk it?
meiztom
24-08-2005, 06:27 PM
i didn't know that light tinting was unroadworthy thats pretty gay how do you know for sure?

Ok, I have no "proof" but we have strict ADR compliance automotive lighting in Australia... but if you have a look on the side of a can of "Night Shades" you will clearly read it is not intended for road use, more for show purposes only... hey I am not saying don't do it, but if we don't tell you the risks, and just say DO IT..DO IT and you get stung well I would be expecting a thread in a few weeks titled "YOU BASTARDS DIDN'T TELL ME I WOULD BE FINED!!!" lol
Up to you mate...
Anyway, dont take my word for it, ask SYNRGY... no, better still check his defect post out... 4th point down.
