View Full Version : thoughts on a sub (Clarion srm3804)
hi,
was just wondering if anyone is running one of these or your thoughts on the cheaper subs from clarion.
i know it's an older sub, but it runs the same stats as the current model.
it's a 15" with a max rate of 600 watts and is a 4ohm.....

Why do you want a 15 inch sub ??
Go for a Clarion V-Net 12 inch sub or get Two if you are Bass hungry..

Yeah I've never understood the obsession with a larger size subwoofer, 12" usually put out enough bass but still maintain a decent sound. While 15" just seem to overpowering, and a 10" just lacks a bit. Eh, each to their own I guess :-)
i'm after the deeper tones they pull off. i've been running 4 tens for a while and just decided to try something diff

A Tuned Ported 12 inch will go as low as you want it to..
If not go for a 12 inch Bandpass if you are after some really low Bass..
well, if u want really really low tunes like ones under 35Hz, i guess u could try a 15", but i must remind u there is hardly ANY music out there that is recorded to such low frequencies.
But yeh, low frequencies like that are coool
i'll sell my 15 if i can find something suitable to replace it with (s_tim_ulate's rockwood 10" :bowrofl: )
i ended up getting the 15
cost $170 including a ported aerpro unibox.
have been running it along with 2 tens and you can really notice the diff

Running subs of different sizes is bad.. you wont hear the 10's bottoming out.. Pull the 10's out of the system and just run the 15 inch ported..

dude, rip the 10s out.
don't run two different sized subs together.
how do u like the 15? like the response?
the quicker kicks from the tens is why i left them in there.
still playing with the port and amp settings at the moment, but she sounds sweet.
you can notice the extra that it gives (over the 4 tens i used to run)
haven't try'd it on it's own yet, will give it a try and see.
the tens are never push'd so they don't get hurt (even if they did i wouldn't care, been running for 2 yrs and still goin so i think i got my money's worth)
thanx Jonathan
