(Sorry if this is always asked, hope this helps me and others)
Im after a Transmission Rebuild on my Magna TR 4cyl.
I have got one quote only and thats from;
http://www.automatictransmission.com.au/ -> $1800 Rebuilt & fitted.
Which sounds a bit high to me.
Will also make contact with; thanks to killbilly's thread in the above search.

Has anyone actually done this for there magnas and if located in Melbourne where abouts???? If you have there website or contact number would be appreciated.
i haven't had it done but I know a friend that had a FWD auto rebuilt for $2,500. He had damaged it and it needed more than just a recondition but I have heard that autos are very expensive to do.

Almost worth the conversion mate.. My Mates dad had a TR auto, Mitsu quoted, wait for it, $6,500 for a newbie.. he ended up getting it reconditioned for $2,500.. which I think it a pretty standard/average price.. $1800 would come close to the best I have come across

At start of 2005, got a quote for $700+GST (= $770) changeover for my old TN wagon.
Fully fitted with some kind of warranty.
Its a independent tranny specialist, located just off Hoddle St in Richmond.
Fluiddrive in Richmond (which did my previous services) quoted $1500.
Just depends how far you want to travel,
my old TN was stranded in the city and I wasn't gunna drive it too far on 1st gear alone.
My guys in the trade say just to recond the box would already be $500-600 alone
so $770 fitted is probably as good as it gets.

A few years ago I needed a new auto in my TR, went to Sigmawreck (they have changed their name now, but they are in Clayton Rd, Clayton south). Found a wrecked TS with only 60,000 on the clock - since mine had 200,000km i bought the engine as well as the trannie and had them fit it for me. Cost me under $1500, my sister has the car now and still going strong. Might be worth looking into, of course it is harder now though to find low mileage wrecks, this was about 5 years ago.

Thats a bit of a gamble isnt it, unless it comes with at least a 3YR warranty (Swapover)
Least if I got a re-build I with a warranty I would know all the parts would be in top condition and all of it had been looked at.
In the TR my Overdrive Band is screwed(Just revs out) Putting this down to why my fuel economy is not very good. As the user manual states to have it on at ALL times.
I'm Waiting for Rhino to get back to me with a quote on a rebuild.
