Hi guys...

Having lived with stock HU and speakers for the past few months, its time for a gradual upgrade. I've just got a HU Pioneer DEH-P5750MP and now shoping for front speakers to go with it. I'm mulling over between Focal Polyglass 165V2 (i could get this for $210), Hertz Hi-Energy HSK130 and HSK165 (ard $300?). Any suggestion which speakers i should go for?

Hertz HSK130:
Size: 5.25” Woofer, 1” Tweeter
Comp: 2 Way system: HV 130, HT 25, Factory provided separate crossover 2W.10
Sensitivity: 91dB/SPL
Power Handling: 200W Peak Power, 100W Continuous Program Power
Frequency Range: 60Hz – 22kHz
Impedance: 4 ohm

Hertz HSK165:
Size: 6.5” Woofer, 1” Tweeter
Comp: 2 Way system: HV 165, HT 25, Factory provided separate crossover 2W.20
Sensitivity: 92dB/SPL
Power Handling: 250W Peak Power, 125W Continuous Program Power
Frequency Range: 50Hz – 22kHz
Impedance: 4 ohm

Focal Polyglass 165V2:
Size: 6.5” Woofer, 1” Voice Coil, 84mm magnet, 45mm Tweeter, inverted Tioxid Dome, 2-way separate grilles included. Comp: 2-way separate crossover 12 dB/oct. (3.5kHz).
Sensitivity (2.83 V/1m): 93dB.
Power Handling: 150W (max), 75W (nominal)
Frequency response: 60Hz-20kHz.
Impedance: 4 ohm
* Adjustable tweeter and mid range level.

I heard that Hertz is a good buy, but how about Focal Polyglass 165V2? Is it any good?

I've used the Hertz before my Morels. They are a good speaker in terms of power handling and midbass response, Some say the tweeter is a bit too bright though.

I still have the midbass drivers if you are interested. $160 for just the mids in Vic

Will u use an amp for them? Or straight off the headunit?

Straight off the HU at the moment.

well the hertz can take a lot of power if you ever plan on upgrading to an amp.

Nowadays I personally find the sound of the hertz to be a little unnatural in comparison to other speakers. But thats my personal preference.

I've only heard the exxy focals which are very detailed. I imagine their lower end gear is pretty decent though.

I'd rather have the Hertz over those Focals, Hertz HSK-165 (Hi-Energy series)...

Any idea how much Hertz HSK165 would cost?

between 300-350 depending on how lucky you are

The costprice on them is at around $320 or something, I think..so $350 is a great price, and a few places do sell them at $350. Just imagine if JB HiFi sold Hertz, it'd go at around $500 :-)

I guess Focal 165V2 will have to do for me for now. At least it'll be better than those stocky ones...

your joking the cost price is $320, where'd you get that from?

I bought mine new from a car audio store in melbourne for $275

Hmm, maybe I'm wrong, FHRX, what's the cost price on these badboys?

RRP $363...

But with all car audio expect 10% off anything (minimum) so you'd be looking around the $330 mark. I think Autobarn sells them for $350 ish from memory.

PM FHRX if you want them for $326 (10% AMC discount)

The focals retail for $419... So may be the better option.

Anybody here do freelance installation for HU and front speakers during the weekends? PM me if you're interested and let me know your asking price. I live in North Melbourne.

I was going to Audio FX, but they just jacked up their installation price after i decided not to get the audio parts from them. Was pretty rude too. ****heads. Now i know lots of you would suggest DIY but truth be told, i'm afraid i'd mess up the car... big time.
